I really do not understand why I don't lose weight on the scales. I am staying between 72-73 whether I eat poorly or not.
I know building muscle is also included on the scales, and I can fit into my old jeans, but I just can't get my head around the fact that the weight has actually gone up!
I can now do 3 x 16 girly push ups when in the beginning of January i could not even do one push up, I know I am stronger and fitter and have no pains and I should be focusing on that instead, but as they say;

Old habits die hard!

Muscle is a lot heavier than fat. So you may have lost 5kg of fat, but put on 5kg of muscle.

Don't get overly obsessed with the scales they are only another measure. The mirror and your clothes tell you the truth as does your feeling of being healthy and fit. Good work! Keep up the consistency. Throw some good leg work into your gym routine; squats, lunges will burn those last few k's of fat. More than the treadmill.

very well said, Peter :) Don't worry much about scales. Be proud of yourself for what you have achieved so far.

As the others say, weight is a non-event really. Weight loss should not be your main goal. Being HEALTHY is what you should be aiming for, and when you are healthy, your weight will be moot, since it will have fallen off. Health, strength, fitness, these are the keys. Girl pushups are the mid point between kitchen pushups and real ones. 3 x 16 isn't bad. Aim for 3 x 20, then maintain for a bit, then move to real ones. Start at whatever you can do, even if it is 3 x 1, and move up each week by a couple, so week 1 is 3 lots of 3 x 1 (or whatever) then week 2 is 3 x a couple more, and so on. Day on, day off, Sunday rest. You will be astonished and how quickly you will get to 3 x 20. One thing though, if you are attempting weight loss by calorie restriction, you are doomed to fail. Count carbs, not calories. Forget the myth that you can burn calories by exercising, it is nonsense, and before you tell me I am nuts, look around you at a world of overweight people, surrounded by gyms and fitness that only came into vogue around the same time as people started getting fat. Eat plenty of fat (EVOO, coconut oil, oily fish, nuts etc), protein, and less than 80g carbs per day (that number varies, but 80 ish is a good starting point). Eat no sugar, no grains, no man mad oils. Watch the weight fall off and the bloods improve. No ifs, no buts, it will happen.

Thanks everyone, Yep I am up to 3 x 20 girly push ups.. I started eating carbs again and had a sugar binge because of the "eight" factor I suppose.. anyway will get back to it again.. will try and eat more protein. I actually bought some fruit today so I would not sugar binge, if I feel like something sweet I will have some fruit. Thank you all for your support. we all need it don't we? I have even got a bit tired of the gym work but luckily I volunteer at the gym for 3 days a week, specifically so I don't give up. i just stopped working out on the treadmill so I can just focus on weights, I think it is more important that the tready at this moment.
