How do you determine your goal weight? Do you go to the web, enter your sex & height to obtain a range & sit half way along? Waist measurement? Do you aim to be what your average weight was in your 20s? Do you just aim to have a BMI below 25? For those older women who have hit menopause, do you allow yourself to be heavier?

I worked out my BMI and aimed for the top of the healthy. Once I'm there I will adjust again as I'm small boned. Hopefully by then I'll have more muscle than now so I being heavier is still healthy.

My first goal has been to aim for a BMI just under 25 (so the highest end of acceptable). I will then re-assess. But I have struggled with weight my entire life (even though being really active) & menopause has made things even more challenging.

I just aim to reduce the belly fat. Even when my BMI is below 25 I still have quite a bit of belly fat, which indicates I might have fatty liver and insulin resistance, so I need to continue my diet

I have a lot of belly fat as well, although I am very overweight. I always had a flat stomach before menopause, even when I was overweight.

We all carry fat in different areas according to our body. I always had a small waste and thick hips. As to lose more weight and gain muscle it will go. Like my thighs.

The healthy BMI range is quite broad. If your BMI is over 25 then that is a reasonable target. I found that I felt uncomfortable with a BMI of 24 so aimed nearer the bottom of the healthy range. Set something attainable and when you get there see how it feels, then adjust your target if you feel the need to lose more.
