**MY FINDINGS FROM EATING JUNK FOOD SO FAR**

I believe I've found my solid macro numbers (%). I'm liking this "HCLF" diet!

Some quick comments on going from ~50g of carbs to now in the 250+ range:

(1) This mix right here is giving me tons of energy without fat gain AT ALL!

(2) I don't feel bloated after eating at all like I'd expected.

(3) The carbs (and creatine) are causing me to increase my daily water intake another 50%... I'm up to almost 2 gallons a day now!

(4) Referencing point #3, every couple days my system does a water-weight "purge" and the weight drops again.

(5) I found the first couple days of eating my "junk food" (processed stuff) for breakfast backfired; I was full for a couple hours, then famished, so I'd starve at work until I got home.

(6) I switched my big "real food" meals to breakfast and now have a big bowl of cereal in milk for dinner with a medium sized carby dessert and it knocks me right out! The great part of a high carb meal right before bed is that it makes the morning weigh in more accurate. The "real food" meals of meat and veggies may not have processed all the way while I slept, but the carbs metabolize quickly, so they're gone by morning after going to sleep nice and full 👍

(7) Lastly, the sugary snacks are a bit too sweet for me, but I'm loving that they aren't filling (see my journal entry about the effects of processed foods). I used to struggle to get in 2200 calories. I'm now eating an extra 300-400 calories of "garbage" without having any issues at all with forcing it. I see how one could easily get out of hand with these if not controlled. I plan my meals a week in advance and just stick to the menu I create, so there's no deviation.

All in all, a very successful diet. I don't have the temptation like most to go overboard on the sweets, but this diet is DEFINITELY NOT for those with a lack of willpower! Fo' sho'!

Once I've burned through this massive pile of "junk food", I'm switching to fruits and veggies as my primary carb source. It's not the sugars that scare me about eating all these processed foods; it's all the other ingredients I can barely pronounce that I take issue with.

Nothing wrong with most other WOEs, but I've just learned to stop being such a Carb Nazi about eating, lightened up a bit, eating more stuff I enjoy, and moving towards my goal.

I want to try butter in my coffee just to see if it’s actually good. However I haven’t because 1) if it IS good then I may develop another bad habit and 2) if it’s NOT good, I have an excellent gag reflex and a sensitive stomach lol. I’ll just continue to look at the people who drink it like they’ve grown two heads just like they do to me when I tell them I’m a CICO type of person ;). But I DO miss root beer and a coke. Diet just doesn’t taste the same. I’ll only drink them when unsweet tea isn’t available at a restaurant which isn’t often. I’ve even chosen sweet tea over soda lately because I can drink a lot more for the same calories.

I don't like the butter in the coffee thing Peeperjj, I don't think you are missing a thing. oily residue floating on the top of your coffee. I have used both ghee and butter.

Great Post Chrisw, and alot of great thoughts being pasted around..Theres nothing mundane about any of this..I've always believed carbs will work for you whether your doing 365/150 a day ..cycling back and forth as needed. The trick is knowing how to use the correctly..They'll give you the energy you need to accomplish your goals and help you sleep at night.Personally l need my good daily dose of them.

What's the correct way to use a carb, Murph?

Phil, If you don't know by now..what can l tell you..you'll just dispute it anyway..enough said.

I'm always open to different perspectives, Murph.

Give your perspective on carbs and how they can work for you or not..thats a good place to start Phil

I didn't ask for MY perspective, Murph, that would be a silly thing to do, and no one asked for my perspective, unless that's what you're doing. Are you asking for my perspective, Murph, and if so, why?

Ok now you both have me curious. To me a carb is simply something to give me energy, fill me up and preferably be from sugar to satisfy my sweet tooth 🤪. But... are you all trying to help and give information or have a debate on views? I’m all for information that may help someone...

peeperjj l don't really like the butter in my coffee but I love the coconut oil in my coffee with milk also , I love coconut flavor, I was becoming addicted to it and I am not doing Keto so for me is has no benefits,it is just extra calories Haha, lately I am not using coconut oil in coffee because I like to eat my calories, not drink them,I have to admit that it really fills me up .

No, I'm not looking for a debate, I have absolutely no interest in beating dead horses. 🐎

Baskington you have to use a blender to mix it , I don't like oily coffee, neither

yes it does Keilin-4, it fills a pleasure need. those are important too. I just recently figured out that my cream was effecting me and not the coffee like I thought, so I am looking for alternatives too. I am going to the store and see what milk/cream alternatives I will try. right now I have been using a chunk of my fat bomb to flavor it, I love chocolate and it has coconut oil in the bomb. not bad, but I will get to the store today! peererjj if you are looking for a fuel source and something to satisfy your sweet tooth, I am surprised you did not play with the fat bombs. there are tons of easy no bake recipes. they probably have similar amount of fat to an actual cupcake or other sweet just not the sugar and flour. I will eventually make a keto cheesecake as I miss that and I don't plan to go without.

Keilin I’m not a fan of anything coconut actually. I bought some vanilla flavored almond milk this week and it’s not bad. I mix it with my new cookies and cream protein powder and it’s really good. Much better than my berry powder and water! I suckered hubby into using the berry. He’s never had any of it and plans to use it all as an experiment to see if he gains more muscle with it during the next two weeks. Well didn’t sucker him so much as just ask if he had ever used it and said I didn’t like it. He decided it’s fair game for him to use it now thankfully!

Ok Carbs 101 carbs are made up of fiber, starch and sugar..Simple Carbs consist of foods like white flour, boxed cereal, soda etc.they digest faster into your blood stream..Complex Carbs such as sweet potatoes, apple, rice etc.are fiber rich and are digested and absorbed slowly which will give you more energy for greater weight loss. Exp. Knowing how to use carbs..if your gas tank holds 15gal.but you try to put in 20gal your gas will spill everywhere..Similarly if you fill your body with the carbs it can handle and try to add more its going to spill over and most likely be stored as fat..p.s. alot of you know tha well. So 101 Carbs: Knowing how to use carbs depends on what your goals are.Carbs are very healthy for weight loss, muscle development, energy, brain food etc. p.s. Ate my carbs, protein, fat and heading for the pool before our afternoon rain comes in.😎

Carbohydrates consist of starch, fiber, and sugar. Sugar is easily absorbed into the blood stream and induces rapid insulin response. Starch begins breaking down into sugar as soon as it comes into contact with the amylase in saliva, where it, too, is quickly absorbed into the blood stream and induces a rapid insulin response. Fiber is primarily un-digestible and has a negligible effect on blood sugar and insulin response. Mixing starch with fiber or sugar with fiber in no way hampers sugar absorption.

well back from the store and all they had was a nice refridgerated coconut cream with almond milk blend. nice rich taste to it. easy keeper, I am a big fan of easy. Keilin I am not awake enough in the morning to deal with blending plus I am lazy. I can see your point on blending. this new creamer will do me just fine for now. I kind of liked my chocolate coconut fat bomb addition too.
