Great podcast on the Joe Rogan Experience on keto vs. flexible dieting. They don't agree on everything but they do both agree on CICO being the end all be all when it comes to fat loss. You can keep saying carbs are the devil and you can continue to be wrong.

it is very low and too many of us do damage chasing the weight loss by going too low. we pay for it long term fixing the damage.

Need to watch this, thanks Diablo. No idea what the comments above are referencing but then again I'm old and forgot to take my aspirin so we have that......okay on with white knighting, the 'my own experience' and so on....have at it....even typing or texting burns calories!

Yes 100-1200 calorie is way too low for any human being normal size. but the thing is that many want to lose weight and don’t care if they accostume their metabolism to such low intake

I’m eating 2050 calories am 5’1 and I’m 116-120 lbs any given day. At peace with fluctuations 😇

I had recently upped my calories by 100 kcal per day to help me avoid stalls, but then started walking, which takes it down by that much again. So, am I at risk for the same stall and should up calories again to compensate for the walking?

Maybe I shouldn't hijack D's journal for my own question. Sorry. It was sort of on the lines of Draglist's rabbit trail and got me thinking.

Smart! many of us think, “lower calories when you hit a stall” but no. We should up calories “take a break” than start again 🙌🏼😏

Walking does not burn many calories

Honestly I have never counted my calories burn via exercise. Mainly cause I don’t exercise much

I haven't exercised at all up until now, but that one month-long plateau has made me a bit gun shy. The walks I take burn maybe 100 calories or so. I can't see me ever doing more than 2 miles a day which would bring it up to about 200 kcal burned a day. So, not a huge amount of calories, but done every day will add up . Think I'll compensate with upping my intake. I really don't want to stall again. I'd rather go at a constant snails pace than stall.

I would stick to what you're doing, Lzenn. Looks like you averaged almost 1500 for the month. Looks good. Give it some more time.

Actually it's 1300 - or there bouts. Still sound ok?

But with the walking, it's netting out to about 1200.

I had to go to the gym so just getting around to finishing it and I like the part about inflammation. The fact that it is greatly reduced with a simple calorie deficit and that inflammation is actually a good thing. Too much is bad but too little as well especially if you do resistance training. How you need it in order to build muscle.

I have it bookmarked so I can listen to it again. I'm sure I missed stuff.

57 minute mark and just prior, discussing TDEE and fidgeting and decrease in fidgeting during dieting, the science, the numbers.....oh Yeah! Hello wheelhouse of reality. Guy on MFP can't think of his name made a spreadsheet and has these little notes (username haybales) using the TDEE method and nailed time and again people dumping too low for too low and their metabolic rate needed time to recover. I absolutely love this stuff! This ought to heard by anybody who continuously thinks their weight loss stalling is the result of something like insulin resistance and not the lack of nutrients. People will fail to understand they are using both fat and muscle tissue when they diet for too long and go too low. This is awesome stuff.

Yeah, no one is telling you to eat junk. Do what works for you.. Keep it up.

Heh, why do LC folk get defensive and put words in our mouths? It's simple Drag, you find your particular burn through trial and error and eat below it. You seem to think that I am eating treats that take me over my goal but since I lift, I can get away with it. The trick is to NOT go above your calorie goal.
