Isn't there some studies that show experienced lifters/athletes need much less protein than originally thought because their bodies use it much more efficiently? People newer etc require more?

IDK but when I did my 10 months of junk food I only averaged ~90 grams per day and kept all of my muscle going by the mirror and my lifts. You could be on to something, lol!

I think the recommendation for regular folks is .8-1 gram per every one pound u weigh. I’m 117 lbs I try to eat 100 grams of protein each day

I think you're on the optimal track, you now just need the experience. I don't think for example that I would have the mind-muscle connection or ability to push myself near as hard in the first 3 years of lifting. It will come with time.

I guess that is another reason I love dumbbells, even if you fail, you can just gently drop them to the side. I usually know when I am near failure, it isn't necessary to get to failure.
