I believe genetics plays a part albeit a small one. My daughter has bulkier build like the hubby so she can gain muscle faster and it looks more rounded where mine looks longer. We are predisposed to illnesses and things. We can overcome a lot of things however. Just because our parents are heavy and we may rightly lean toward a bigger bone structure and a heavier weight doesn’t mean we have to be heavy. We can exercise for fat loss and muscle gain. If we are sensitive to certain foods then by all means avoid them. Just remember that just because you can’t have carbs or milk or bread or whatever doesn’t mean someone else can’t either. I believe our genetics have us lean in one direction or the other. We can change, tweak or overcome our genetics a lot of time. It’s too easy to give up using the genetics card.

Example: As a cancer survivor who was out into surgical menopause I’m basically like a 55 year old now. My sleep, weight, muscles, bones, concentration and many other things suffer now because of that and treatments. I could just say to hell with it. Based on my genetics, my past health and things I had to do to stay alive and healthy means I can’t have the body of my dreams. I said that for awhile. Then I got pissed(Thanks depression lol) and got off my ass. Every meal, every snack, every day, week, month etc we make a choice. I choose not to play the cancer card. I could but it’s much more fun to decide to just say F it all and get busy doing what my dr said I couldn’t do or at the very least would take years while being careful and changing every aspect of my activity and eating habits. Nope! I can still be ME and make changes. I bet if that dr saw me know she would be shocked. Not at the 40# loss, not at my food changes but at the muscle definition I have now just half a year after seeing her. I didn’t have to change my food a lot, well at first I did but now I’m eating candy and don’t care lol.

I didn’t have to get down to 100-110. I didn’t have to find natural remedies to counteract menopause. I made a choice. Anyone playing a card (health, genetics, cancer, weight...) know that it’ll bite you in the ass one day. (Not that anyone here IS doing that but just be aware). Choose to tell genetics to F off. Choose to tell your brain and body that it CAN walk a bit farther or lift that dumbbell one more time. The weight/genetics won’t win. YOU will by you choices. Or lose by your choices. Ok strong off that soapbox lol. Sry 😖

Maybe some of us are more prone to being bigger, but obviously it just takes a little effort one can decide if we want to be big or small

Exactly Rosio! We don’t have to accept those things. We have the lower to change them even if only a little bit. Every day is a new day to make better choices :).
