So now even flexible dieting is being marketed. I won't name them but I see them on social media. All diets come down to the same basic principles. Eat less move more. No need to buy any books or programs. Strive to ensure your diet is mostly whole low calorie filling foods and exercise your body. Here is a great resource for frequently asked questions. A fitness wiki. https://thefitness.wiki/faq/

What we don’t even need any pills or a miracle 30d detox programme?

Or wraps, or shakes, or gels, or IF, or OMAD, or 6 meals a day, or LC, or HC, or LF etc. Just less energy in than out.

"What is more important for weight loss – calories or macros? Unequivocally, calories. You may have found this page because you have heard the phrases “a calorie is not a calorie” or “the human body is not a bomb calorimeter”. These refrains are pseudoscience and people who repeat them are probably not your friend. To help better educate people on this subject, the below was originally compiled by r/Fitness moderator eric_twinge: Several metabolic ward studies have shown that there is no difference in weight loss when protein intake was held constant.1"

Oh lol wraps. They are ridiculous for real 😳 can’t believe people fall into this.

I have a co-worker who uses them. Also at my gym, there is a couple who workout in plastic sweat suits. SMH

Lol at sweating stuff. What does help, it’s working out itself at least 3xweek. It’s like I have people asking me how do you get rid of cellulitis. Any drainer or wrapping programme? Me yes: lose weight, eat properly to maintain it and lift heavy 3x week. Oh and drink enough. Water! They are immediately disappointed lol.

I so wish I could work out again! It's rough to only be able to work on half of the equation.

Questions for friend or foe status: What is TDEE? Why are calories important? Best book you've read for weight loss? If someone mentions flaxseed your response is? Who do you follow for advice when trying to lose weight? How many people can you name who have maintained weight loss for 5+ years?

I know at least 10. All the people I have mentored over the years. The first person was over 40 years ago, one lost 250 lb in 2 years, one lost 175 lb. in one year and that was 6 years and counting. And, a child who started at age 8 and is going strong and a marathon runner. It can be done. Lifestyle change, not deprivation and guilt. Many others along the way.

Talked to another person (who is American, coincidence) who got pissed because my technique seemed horrible. “Watch your calories and lift heavy” = you are rude and don’t respect me. Oh well.

Some people need to spend money. Lol I thought the shakeology and beach body workouts, magic pills, miracle diets, etc were the key to successful dieting. I thought skinny bodies were for the rich and those who can pay for plastic. I was wrong. I think the poor person’s diet is the best. Spend on fresh food, eat out less, and no supplements needed.

I have heard over and over that 1. a calorie is a calorie is a calorid. OK so I sorta agree, but there are some cals that pack problems for certain ppl i.e. kidney pts, folks with cardiovascular problems and on and on. Certain cals also go straight to the heart when heavy-laden with fats (unhealthy fats) and pack more of a caloric punch. ALSO, all (and I do believe this) that all diets are a type of starvation, we are starving out either fats, muscle tissues with what we focus on. Diets per se, suck. Balance is key. IMHO. I put protein higher than all, fiber higher than fats, and make a balanced lifestyle so I remember how to cook! If I go from the all-out diet to back to 'normal' every pound THEN some comes back. I have done this in the past. I won't do it ever again. Give up pasta? Are you serious? Give up all sugar? Never. BTW glucose is essential to running the brain cells, the energy to power up, and sure you lose weight at the risk of falling asleep (been there, done that, doesn't work in grad school). And fats? Required to help the lipid cells in one's brain to keep that bilipid layer surrounding neurons. Too low of fats in any form results in bruising. Been there, done that, too. In fact cholesterol lowering drugs DO this and affect memory. My cholesterol once dropped to 113 total. I bruised everywhere. I forgot things. So...not... good.

I just saw a new one today. Some 53 year old ripped guy talking while eating tacos and chili and saying if you want the secret to being able to do this while being ripped just buy this program lol. You can see by the comments noone believes it or they think he works out 4+ hours a day. So many people who don't know how it works.

Yes moopie...spending money = greater chance of working. Right? 🤪 that's what I thought.

The thing about spending money on supplements is that I would definitely stick to my crap clean diet back in the day because of them. "Spending money so I gotta get cereal."
16 Aug 19 by member: -Diablo
The whole time I didn't know I could eat the cereal too.
16 Aug 19 by member: -Diablo
Lol #cereally!!! d👸 once the shakes were gone, the diet was over, the pill bottle empty, the weight, if any was lost, always comes back.
