** MEAL-TIMING MUSINGS **

We don't gain weight overnight as we sleep. If you were to weigh yourself right before bed, the next time you wake, you should weigh the same or less, right? Here on Earth, mass requires substance and if you don't take in any further substance, mass cannot increase. Period.

That said, would it not make sense to eat most of your calories in the morning/early afternoon? Not only to give you energy to power through the day, but it gives you the day to burn the heft of your caloric load.

Taper the calories as the day draws to a close and end the day with a small dinner/snack at bedtime. I'm not advocating for the "stop eating at 7pm" nonsense crowd. Although, that would fit this theory, but not necessary for the same outcome.

Just discipline your body/mind to take in a majority of the calories early in the day while you're actively using them and eat just enough at night to prevent you from being hungry before bed. This will repeat the cycle by leaving you waking up hungrier in the morning too.

Does this sound farfetched or does it resonate with anyone else? 🤔

Melisapko, sumos eat large ALL day. The timing matters not. That is when most of my calories are consumed. No sumo wrestler body here. No magical time of day.

Also, we lose/gain fat throughout the day, even while sleeping. We burn calories every second of the day. If your musings were sound then OMAD would be the best diet for fat loss but people lose weight even with "stoking the anabolic fire" while eating 8 meals a day. Fat loss would still be equal given equal calories and protein. OMAD would after some time actually be inferior as you'd most likely lose more lean mass instead of fat mass.

Not arguing Diablo....you obviously know what you're doing. 👍 I knew a woman who taught English as a second language in Japan, and she said sumo wrestlers eat only two meals per day. Lunch, followed by a long nap. And supper, followed by a full night's sleep. That's why I've always called eating a lot before bed, the Sumo Wrestler's diet. For me, I don't think time of day matters with my particular way of eating. I'm a CICO girl.

Honestly, I've been trying to keep my calorie intake down. I stop eating by 7 p.m. I keep my dinners light! So far I haven't gained back any weight.

CICO n taste is EVERYTHING believer🙋🏻‍♀️...did try to "stop eating after 7p" but let it go after a month. Now, I mindfully eat what I want when I want n I'm 2 lbs to goal. Watch out!

Makes sense! I have willpower and reward issues towards the end of each day......

The only way I eat light at night is if I ate a 1000+ calorie breakfast.. And I still might not eat that light 😁 but seriously I've never really got better results doing one or the other.

60pack, that is why I eat most of my calories later in the day, cause that is when I get hungrier. I also sleep better that way so it's a win-win. Sleep is very important.

Great point, Diablo. I gotta get better on factoring in my sleep😴

1500 calories a day is 1500 calories a day. Some people are hungry early in the day, some are hungry later. I suggest you eat your larger meal at the time of day you are most hungry, as that will make it easier to stay within your RDI. Also, there are cultural influences on the time we eat dinner.

I've had doctor's advise me to do exactly that. eat main meal for breakfast an lunch and for dinner salad, or soup, cereal and nolater then 6 pm.
