Went to the dr Friday. She was super surprised that I have full range of motion (mostly) in my right arm again and no pain! It’s achy sometimes but I think that’s from not suing it like I was. The shoulder still catches from time to time but not bad.

She said the normal time frame to ‘get over’ a pinched nerve in that area is 4-6 weeks! So my 2 weeks (23 days from first pain to seeing her last week) on meds and stretching (my own idea) worked much quicker than expected. Very happy she didn’t tell me the 4-6 weeks at the beginning lol. Also thankful I don’t have to do PT and an MRI. Saving back the gabapentin in case it happens again. Dr agreed monthly massages and adjustments should be considered as the budget allows.

I forgot to ask when I can get back in the gym so I’ll probably just go and start with bar only. I’d hate to be lifting 95# and the shoulder lock up and I drop the weight on myself! Better to start nice and easy. Maybe this weekend!

Thanks! My PS told me today that my skin hasn’t healed enough so surgery for an expander is pushed back another two months or more. It actually works well for me if he can push it back until spring break lol. Then the implant placement at the end of summer. He’s still talking about taking from my lats which I’m opposed to.

Taking from your lats??? The actual muscle? Glad you recovered use of your shoulder as quickly and (relatively) easily. Great news!

Good that you are healing so well. I read "I'll start at the bar" till I realized it was with the bar. Yeah maybe the latter makes more sense

Liv, maybe I SHOULD start AT the bar lol. Start with some 12 oz curls haha.

Tom, yes as in cut a chunk of my lats off and thread it around, under the skin, to my chest. That would mean the right side would not only be quite a bit smaller than the right but of a different feel and shape not to mention that it puts me out of the gym fit quite some time. When I remind the PS that I like to lift weights he says I can still do it eventually and it shouldn’t effect much other than how much I can lift. I can tell he’s not into lifting lol. Effecting how much I lift is pretty significant! Things like lat pull downs and rows are my favorite exercises! Or he can take from my abs but that means an A cup if lucky and I refuse to be a D one side and A the other lol. Just not gonna happen since filling out women’s tops and dresses they way they are meant to be has been one of the few pluses of all this. The rate of infection is similar either way. The possibility of losing it is the same as an implant except with an implant then we can always just put another in later. You can only take so much muscle! And he told me I’d grow that muscle back. Umm how?? If I can’t do the exercises to grow that muscle how exactly am I going to build it back especially with zero hormones?

So will the displaced chunk maintain its original nerve connection, and flex while doing pull downs? Sounds like possibly an interesting party trick, but not very easy to live with. I know the skin moved around on my dad’s face produced whiskers in odd places, not to mention the stretched skin from place to place was alien in appearance until finished. D-cup sounds like a big enough chunk of muscle removal to affect day-to-day life, not just the gym.

I’m not sure. Something to think about! The implant is a D so I’d like matching. He says he can make an A or maybe a B with my muscle. Anything more than that and I would have issues just standing up straight and doing normal stuff. So it’s my last resort even though the dr wants to try it before another implant.

I'm glad your getting your mobility back so quickly!!! Boy, lots of decisions to make. Hopefully you have sometime to think on it.

I’ve decided no MRI, PT or gabapentin for now. Dr agreed that I wouldn’t get much use out of PT and since it’s better an MRI is excessive. She didn’t comment on not taking gabapentin but since the blinding pain is gone I’d say I don’t need them. I’m not tossing them until the best by date though just in case it happens again. Also have another 20 day supply waiting to be filled at the pharmacy if needed. Only decisions I need to make are when to have my reconstruction surgery and how often and how much to lift at the gym. First is easy... I’ll put it off until spring break if possible. Gym is also easy. Go as often as I can get away from everything else and just slowly work up :).
