Gabbie1018's Journal, 08 Jan 14

Finding it hard to journal during the work week but I have an unexpected day off today(I didn't know about it till this past Monday). I kind of like having a day off of work midweek to recharge but I am finding that I am having a hard time not thinking about work. There are some stressful things going on at work right now. I hope the thoughts and stress I am having right now don't derail my healthy eating today. I am definitely an emotional eater. I really need to work on not worrying and perseverating as much as I do. It really isn't healthy for me. Most of the things I stress out about turn out to be fine in the end. I will just need to keep my mind occupied with other things. I work enough hours in a week I don't need to think about work on a vacation day, right???

So on a good note I have lost 6.2 lbs since my first weigh in last week. I am finding that keeping my caloric intake below 1200/day is working for me. This website told me to eat 2000 calories a day which I thought was way too high. I am also being mindful of my Carb/protein/fat ratio although my fat ratio for breakfast was high today I am not concerned as I will counterbalance it with what I eat the rest of the day. I usually don't have a lot of time to eat breakfast in the morning before work because I leave the house by 5:45 am so when I have more time like today I try to have a hot breakfast (put some effort into it) instead of having cold cereal like I do most work mornings.

I really want to try exercising this morning (first time since I started back) after my husband leaves for work. I will need to heat up the finished basement before I exercise down there because we are having that cold spell that everyone is talking about. Yesterday with the windchill it was -38 degrees. Right now, I think the temp (with windchill) is -16 degrees...brrr, a virtual heat wave compared to yesterday. I will check back in with how successful I was with exercising today. Wish me luck!

Well, I just did 40 minutes on the stationary bike at a pretty good clip. After I got off the the bike my legs felt way different then they ever felt before, wobbly, heavy and stiff all that the same time. Felt so strange. That is what I get for not working out for a long time. I received a amazon prime subscription for x-mas this year and someone told be about this show called Justified (that is free on amazon prime) that is in its fifth season so I have made a deal with myself. I can only watch an episode of it if I do a workout. So if I am on the stationary bike or doing an exercise program that doesn't require the use of the TV I can watch an episode. If I do a workout at the gym or workout by DVD I can watch an episode later. I think that is a good reward for working out. I watched the first episode today while using the stationary bike and it was sooooo good. I really want to watch another episode and I was thinking I will do a Barre3 video. Has anyone every heard of Barre3 before? It is hard to explain but look it up. It is sure to kick my butt! They also have free videos on youtube if you want to try it before purchasing any videos. I will report back later. It keeps me honest.

Finished 20 minutes of my Barre3 video so I am going to watch another episode of Justified this afternoon as my reward. Just had my lunch. I found these frozen mahi mahi burgers made by whole foods at BJ's warehouse. OMG..they are amazing. If you can find them where you are located don't hesitate. I am trying to eat more fish and this is an awesome option. Feeling very healthy today!!

I'm with you on the work. I am using my lunch time to journal and enter my food journal. This isn't hard today since I missed breakfast (busy). I am a stressful eater, at times, which is difficult. The way "I'm trying" to handle that is to eat celery or a carrot. Less calories, fat-free, yet "I'm eating." LOL. I think my rabbit is going to start making eyes at me soon because I think I'm turning into one--LOL. That, or he'll be mad at me for eating his food! What type of exercises do you do? Do you do the same routine every day? How long do you exercise? I need to incorporate exercise into my routine, but wanted to wait until I was under 200 (which should take a week or two of me being on my diet). Being this big, I don't want to hurt my joints. I'll start out with walking, leg lifts and those type of exercises. Try to stay warm! I wish I had a basement for my exercise equipment, but I don't. It's too cold or too hot in the garage, so I will eventually head to "Planet Fitness" and also use my treadmill (in my bedroom). Do you have any suggestions for good exercise music?

Jitzee00..I was going to hold on doing any exercise until after eating healthy for two weeks because I have found that has worked for me in the past but I decided to start a week early seeing as I had an unexpected day off of work today. I do strength training, Pilates/Barre3 (dvds), and cardio (elliptical/stationary bike). I make sure to mix it up and not do the same thing every time I workout so I don't get bored. I was also running really consistently at one time but to be honest I tend to run in the spring, summer and fall only because running in the cold just isn't my thing and I hate running on the treadmill. I am definitely not one for organized gym classes. I belong to Planet Fitness and will be one of those people (that consistent gym rats despise) that goes back to the gym after the first of the year. I usually go to itunes and just update my exercise music from whatever is popular at that time (which I just did before writing this post). Wish I could be more helpful but I just download whatever will get my butt back in gear (not any specific type of music).
