** AM I GETTING ENOUGH WATER? **

Want to reduce your weight fluctuations? Want to do a "cleanse" without changing your diet? Want to ensure you're operating at your best?

Water controls blood circulation (lower blood pressure), body temperature (sweat less), removes toxins from the body, plus MANY other functions. It's kinda important.

Think of a sponge. Get it wet and it will eventually dry out completely if squeezed. You can saturate it completely, squeeze it as hard as you can and it will need to be filled up again or it will dry out.

Your body is this sponge.

Now, put that same sponge into a glass and add a little water. Squeeze it out and put it back into the glass and it will easily absorb the rest of the water, but it won't dry out completely because the glass supplies it the water it needs to stay moist enough.

The glass of water is how much water you normally drink in a day.

Let's fill that glass up completely. Wring that sponge out now, put it back in the glass and it runs no risk of drying out. It has a constant supply of water to last for awhile.

This is how much water you should take in.

"But how do I know when I have enough?"

When the glass gets filled, it overflows. If you're taking in "enough" water, you will be running to the bathroom CONSTANTLY. It may be an inconvenience, but poor health is MUCH MORE inconvenient.

Be reasonable though; don't try drinking a quart every hour. That's overkill and your body can't handle it.

Try starting with 1 cup (8oz) every waking hour. That is over a gallon a day for most people! A good place to start...

Personally, I average about 1.5 glasses an hour and have noticed a marked improvement in many aspects of health and functionality since starting to monitor and increase my intake.

Yes, coffee is 99% water. So is soda. I'm talking about water-water. The clear stuff. No flavors. Nothing for your liver or kidneys to need to filter.

Do your body a favor. Give it a break. Help it work the way it was designed to. End the dehydration-rehydration cycle. Be proactive and keep yourself topped off.

Also, there’s a water app, that reminds you hourly to drink water that I have been ignoring. Will follow it today.😊

I hate water-water lol. So my body just has to filter the coffee or mostly propel water. My dr said propel was a good alternative for me though because I need the electrolytes too. And she was probably just glad I wasn’t drinking 4-6 cans of Coke every day and nothing else lol. As for a cup an hour... I’d never leave the bathroom! 4-6 propel waters a day and I’m already in there about every 2 hours and 1-2 times at night. That’s not including the times I go before I leave to run errands or when I know I’ll be busy and go ahead and try so I don’t have to get up mid task lol. I’m ranging 54-57% water as per my scale. Started out 45-50% so it’s better :).

Is this written as hyperbole? The hourly rate seems a bit excessive and constantly peeing doesn't sound like the way God intended life to be.

if I don't enough water I get insomnia. Literally, not sleeping all night what an incentive to drink enough water

Peeper you’re doing it right. I am very very lucky for I almost never have to pee. I even asked my doctor once if there’s something wrong with me? I was told I just have a great bladder, I’m sure she meant Big. I never get up at night to go pee, good thing when I used to rough camp.😁

Living in a pineapple under the sea, I'd expect a higher level of sodium. 🍍🍍🍍

it's raining again, so my personal hydration level is up via osmosis. I got plenty of actual dinosaurs here. 🦕🦖 just in case you think I get too serious, I'm standing on a balance board right now.

Diana, you're a girl after my heart ❤😀 I do like...and drink plain water, but my fluid intake does usually include a couple glasses of wine 🍷

It was probably closer to 2 years ago! In 2018 I was drinking 100% coke with the occasional iced tea. Then I switched to Diet Coke then propel. I should buy stock in propel as I go through like 3 cases a week lol. Now the Diet Coke or Sprite Zero is like a once a week thing. I eat Coca Cola tic tacs now because they taste like full calorie Coke lol. They also told me I should probably increase my sodium intake. Probably why my weight is going up. Sodium making me hold more water! But the dr said to get the sodium into my body not flush it out. Haven’t noticed a difference yet. The hubby is like you! In the summer it’s nothing for him to drink a couple gallons of water on top of his 6-8 diet Coke’s per day. When we get home he can’t make it into the house so has to pee in the yard. Thank goodness we live in the country! Lol. He says he has a radar built in. We can be gone 20 minutes or two hours and as soon as we get a mile from home he starts doing a pee pee dance in his seat and gets what he calls the pee shivers (shakes like he’s cold even in summer) lol.

Peeper, you're so funny! 😆

I already have to pee pretty much every half hour to hour (I can hold it longer if I have to) and I only drink between 5-8 cups per day lol

Putting up with having to pee a lot is a small price to pay. Great post I’m trying to get to 2 litres per day with my stainless steel litre bottle. 💧💧💧

Small price to pay for what though? Our body knows when it's thirsty. If not make sure your pee isn't too dark and adjust. I'd annoy the hell out of my coworkers getting up every 30 min lol

They say...whoever they are...lol...thirsty means dehydrated. 😜 Not sure that is science but I’ve heard it many times.

Now this is very interesting. I'm still struggling with trying to drink more water. I can say I can feel the difference. I also know I need to increase it. But to be getting more in has been a challenge. I'm working on it.

One of my favorite books is "You're not sick, you're thirsty." It talks more about these sorts of things and also explains how asthma and other health conditions are related. I recommend it.

Wifey I’ve heard the same. But my body is adjusting. As soon as I hit the gym my mouth is dry and I have to take a drink before starting. It’s like my body knows what’s coming and says hey drink something lol. I just drank 1.5 bottles of propel and my lips are dry and I’m still thirsty. But it may have been the 2 large cups of coffee I drank earlier. Maybe it dehydrated me and now I need to drink even more before bed. 🤷‍♀️
