So I'm actually REALLY proud of my legs. A few months back, I started bike riding again for the first time in years& my legs are already getting smaller, stronger& more defined. I am ofc a work in progress, but im proud of them. They've gotten me this far!

And so you should be proud of them! I’m so glad you are having such a great time doing this! BTW all cyclists strip off weight. It’s a fact, you cannot cycle every day and stay overweight. My doctor who is in his 70’s, is a dedicated cyclist, rides in all weathers, thin as a rail and far fitter than most 30 yo! (See my latest weigh in post.) I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do cycling because of the effects of decades of severe chronic asthma (my lung capacity is not good) but I’ve fixed my stationary bike and got in a bit more practice with that, so maybe I need to use that more often. In many 5-10 minute bursts perhaps, incorporating HIIT. I’m about to completely abandon the whole concept of ’dieting’. Calories are an imaginary unit for measuring energy expenditure, they have no reality. Good quality, nutritious, natural food, actively using your body - actually working it, breathing deep and letting oxygen take it’s role in feeding your body, getting good rest - these things contribute positively to building strength, agility, endurance, as body recomposition progresses.

studies on hiit show minimal benifits in calorie loss so it's not really worth the extra muscle strain in my opinion. cycling at a constant rate and resistance I find to be better and when you get past the initial muscle fatigue you can ride for ages without stopping (like hitting the wall when running) which increases the calories burned overall. I can't run because of a bad leg so cycling is my go to cardio and I enjoy it alot.
