Had a discussion with an old friend who is always on the newest fad diets.

I told her that if he is unable to measure her food with a $18 scale and $4 set of measuring cups then I do not which diet can help her.

She got upset.

Why do people insist on changing their diet than just counting calories.

CICO is easier and requires less effort than a complete diet overhaul.

Measuring food definitely helps as some people don't realize a serving size of what they are eating and can easily add an extra few hundred calories. Was shocked when I started weighing cheese and nuts etc

Agree with both of you - I realised very early on that I needed to weigh, measure and record everything, even the 4 calories in a cup of herbal tea! Otherwise I’m cheating the system I’ve decided to follow, and depriving myself of the information I need to make the right choices. Fad diets bamboozle people’s thinking. They present as a ‘magic bullet’ that’s going to give amazing results - which most of them will appear to do - in the short term. Long term, we need to go back to old school basics. No more than 15-20% caloric deficit ( feed the body you’re aiming to get, not the one you have). Fresh, unprocessed foods high in nutrients and low caloric density. Complex carbohydrates, low glycemic index, and about the same amount of protein per day. Fats from nuts and seeds, fish - but only about 20-25% of caloric intake.

my ex tried every fad diet out there and people that do it usually have very little willpower and want the diet to do the work for them. unfortunately it's your own effort and persistence that makes a diet work. I think that not seeing noticable results within the first month or two also puts people like that off diets as well. takes 3-4 months to see a real change and 5-6 months at least to see a serious change.

hehehe its a bit like that. I do Isagenix myself and love how easy it is to change things up and have this app as all my food is programmed in already
