Last year around this time we were in our first lockdown. I was so tired of my long hair, I cut my own. Ooops. I know how terrible it feels. I hated mine too but just focused every day on it growing. It does and will. Hang on. Learn from it. I’m curious, you actually cut it to punish yourself for not losing weight? Am I understanding that right or are you exaggerating?

JB I am sure it looks fine. But it may not be what you envisioned when you got it cut or what you want it to be now. Remember it's a marathon not a sprint !

Mine was half down my back and cut it to a pixie for the same reason. I liked it but it only accentuated my heaviness. It had to be done and I'm letting the silver come in now naturally. Luv the color and literally just can get it into a ponytail. It's an ongoing makeover...lol

Well naughty is always a plus! I say grow the hair, grow the naughty, and lock up the self flagellation somewhere in the recesses of your basement.

I get it about the hair. Makes a big difference. But why did you punish yourself, JB?

It sounds terrible, concentration-camp-esque.

Yes, wearing a cap solves the bad hair day problem.

I hear you I started a 20 our fast with four hour feeding when do 8 days ago and I didn't lose a pound even though I ate healthy be cut out all sugars. I was so disappointed I ate banana bread for 2 days in a row only one slice but still. I don't know why we punish ourselves but I did some research and since I am 60 and pre-diabetic they suggested I go to two meals a day 4 oz of protein each meal low-carb vegetables no snacking an ad healthy fat to each meal. also took a 20-minute walk today I hope at the end of this week the scale shows my efforts. I totally get the hair thing every time I cut my hair I regret it. since gray hair is in I wanted to go Gray but to do that you have to look like mud for a solid year as the process is long and since I already feel bad about myself I didn't think this was the year to do it. they are such natural looking wigs now I may try it next year. thank you for telling your truth it makes me feel as though I am not alone I'm good luck with your journey the next 7 days and Beyond

Mermee always says the right thing! @Wifey: Yes, I punished myself. I also reward myself when I accomplish my goals. I am motivated by the consequences of my actions, good or bad. I do not believe in blowing off my mistakes. @Jimmie: the darker look is darn sexy, so that will stay, and @Les & @Mermee: I like how I look in hats, so that's my public look until it grows out. @K.Edwards: thankfully I have a very angular face & jawline, so the shorter cut doesn't make me look fat. Thank you for understanding the tragedy of a bad hair decision and the necessity of a ponytail!

@Chevre & @Roxanna & @Marty: I have extremely high expectations for myself and when I fail, I am crushed. I went on an 8-mile run one time after a poor night's sleep and of course fell apart at mile 5. I literally bent over, hands on my knees, and started bawling. The hair thing is just horrible, and I'm treating it with UV protective sprays (and the hats), deep conditioning it, and eating protein & a daily multivitimen, but it can only get longer with time.

I see @ JB. Get it, though not to the same extent.

I once had a hairdresser accidentally lop off a significant portion of my hair. It took more than two years to grow back to even and was tough on my self esteem. Hope you enjoy your hair again much sooner than I did

@Cindy: Your tragedy is every woman's nightmare. And you are absolutely right about it choking our self-esteem. While I would love for it to already be 2 years from now, I'll settle for 3 months and being able to make a cute pony.

I think you are being to hard on yourself

I appreciate your dedication but am a wee bit concerned by how strictly you treat yourself. I'm a high achieving individual, as well, and I almost broke myself under the pressure I was putting on myself. Just remember to be good to yourself, too. ❤️ Also - my hair has never grown faster than it does now that I've started taking collagen supplements. It's honestly grown about half an inch in the last three weeks. The side of my head is shaved and I used to get away with cutting it down to 1/8th an inch every two weeks bur since taking the collagen it's getting raggedy by 9 days out. Swear by the stuff. =)

@sheLoves: I may have to try the supplements! Also, I cut my hair as punishment. There are a gazillion dieters that would punish themselves by falling off the eating wagon. Same difference. Though cutting my hair did not derail my diet or give me diabetes or heart disease or even cause me to gain weight. We all have our ways of getting angry with ourselves.
