Hubby and I tried soy nuts and didn't like them at all.

Morticia - I've bought them before and it helps when they are roasted and salted. I don't over eat them and I looked them up and there is quite a bit of protein in 1/4 cup which is 4 tablespoons. They didn't have them in my little local market but I am happy with the pumpkin seeds. The only thing is that neither is good when I try to stay on a low fat diet.

Very seasonal to eat pumpkin seeds 🎃 but I love all seeds and nuts year 'round. Important snack food for vegans & vegetarians. Though the fat is the good kind, not the saturated stuff that you'll get in half & half and ground beef. I wish 2 of my neighbor's dogs would learn not to bark at the mailman. Every. Day.

Bananas - I like nuts and seeds too but have to limit to one serving a day because they are high in calories. I used to put sunflower seeds in salads until I started tracking the calories. I usually eat raw almonds for protein. I checked the pumpkin seeds I bought and there are 2 grams of saturated fat in 1/4 cup which is the same as in 2 tablespoons h&h. I know nuts and avocado and olive all have the "good" fat but when I try to go low fat all the fat grams are included. It's tough not to increase fat while trying to increase my protein grams to 65-70 a day. I'm not vegan or vegetarian - but sometimes lean towards vegetarian because I don't cook that much. In colder weather I do use more beef than normal because I cook more. I am going to make a chicken stew soon. I've made meatless stews and meatless chili but just don't like them.

I don’t know if you eat fish but it’s super high in protein and very lean on fat. I eat it daily. Also Low fat Cottage Cheese is super high in Protein and low in fat. I like to add either cinnamon with berries or a cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. Good luck.

We are supposed to start getting cold here. We had our 1 week of Autumn. It's gonna be windy and possibly rainy on Thurs. We go from 80 degrees to 54..I'm taking off from gym tomorrow. I am going for a long walk. Probably take Sydney for a short one, drop her back here and keep going. I'm going to try your trick for getting Bobby not to bark. Sydney barks at everyone and everything!
You gave me a push to make meatloaf. I haven't made it for a long time!
Hope you get milk tomorrow! Have a great evening!💜👍

Totally agree with golfmarina. Love to eat fish. And if you don’t like fish, low fat cottage cheese is delicious and very satisfying! A favorite lunch is 3 oz. roasted red potatoes with 1/2 cup Good Culture 2% cottage cheese…156 calories…16 grams protein and 2.6 grams fat. Add some kind of fruit and it’s a perfect meal! I started using my new Fitbit btw. And yes, it is totally amazing how many steps you take just doing everyday things! Being more aware makes me want to push myself to do a bit more.

Golfmarina - I didn't grow up eating fish. We never even had fish sticks as kids. Just tuna sandwiches and I have half of one every couple of weeks. Also make tuna casserole. I've tried some mild fish but I don't know how to cook fish. I've failed every time. I started putting fish in the wok when I stir fry vegetables and the fish falls apart. It's good that way. Sometimes I'll have shrimp, but it's high in cholesterol. I never eat cottage cheese. I remember my mom eating it when I was a kid, she ate it with pears. She never gave it to my or my sisters but I swear I remember tasting it and didn't like it. Maybe it's time to try it again. Diana - it sounds like our weather. The a/c was running a week ago and now I've pulled out the space heater the the heated throw blankets. Put the flannel comforter on the bed today. The meatloaf is good. I'll have it again tomorrow and I've frozen the other 2 servings. I hope Sydney is feeling good. Sometimes I just stop Bobby and hold him by his harness when someone with a dog or dogs is coming towards us. He's learned what "no bark" means. Sometimes I'll show him the treat and he pays more attention to that than the dog. He loves people, never barks at them. Once the dog has gone past us I give him the treat. He's getting so I don't even have to remind him not to bark. Thanks Broccolibabe - I made comments to Golfmarina about cottage cheese and fish. I would love to be able to cook fish. I am not crazy about salmon it has such a strong taste. Buy my niece's new husband cooked it once and it was really good. So he texted me to cook it. He was trying to make it easy for me so had me poach it. I hated it! The cats got some really expensive treats for the next few days. But I'm willing to keep trying. The step counter is new to me and I'm finding it very motivating. Usually on cold days I just want to stay warm in bed, but I'm getting up and ready to walk. Then I can come home and go back to a warm bed if I feel I need to.

Maybe the bucks are finally working towards your house. I am glad your power wasn’t off for very long. Hope you enjoyed your meatloaf. Sometimes, we have to just guesstimate the calories. It’s hard for me to get motivated in not so pleasant weather. I usually get on treadmill or just go up and down my levels all day doing stuff and jog the stairs. Lol Happy November!:)

Try Talapia. Very mild. I buy it frozen, individually wrapped. Defrosts quickly or cook frozen. I poach it on low just until it will flake apart when tested with a fork. I add Dash Southwest Chipotle for a little flavor.

Thanks Navywife - the meatloaf was good, I'll have leftovers today. Love when there are leftovers! It's way too hot in the summer to walk so this is the best time for me to do it. Once I get going I start to warm up. It's just get motivated to get outside that takes some time. But Bobby is enjoying the longer walks. Thanks agnesvitt - I did buy talapia once or twice it is very mild.

I like my fish to have a little crust on it. Don't care for poached fish. Try mixing maple syrup, brown mustard & a little soy sauce & brushing it on Salmon. Put in the oven for 30 minutes. I turn the broiler on at the end to brown it a little. I cook tilapia filets in a little olive oil & put seasoning on at the end. I use Creole seasoning. It does often crumble but still tastes good.
