I find that what people don't want to hear the most is that there is no one-size-fits all-diet. They convince themselves that their plan is the only plan that works.

That you can out-exercise a bad diet.

The scale & BMI are not the most important measurements.

The food industry is corrupt and is killing us and the government isn't doing much to stop it.

I agree with JustBananas, we can not out-exercise a bad diet...

I would have scoffed at this myself a few years ago when I was a committed intermittent faster and breakfast-skipper but now I believe (gasp!) that a solid and satisfying breakfast, lunch, and dinner, well-spaced out over the course of the day, is the best weapon against overeating, snacking, binging, and other unruly cravings that derailed me in the past. (At least for me, others might find IF more sustainable.) But I had to admit to myself that my mother was right!

Accurate knowledge is key to learn to eat healthy and exercise for overall good health and not be misled or seduced by the quick weight loss schemes that abound the Internet.

Following a diet that is not sustainable for a lifetime.

Going at 1500 daily calories or lower is not ideal.

Truth is fruit, vegetables, and low calorie food does not make you lose weight. Every body in the world is different and there is no "perfect diet" for everyone, there is only a perfect diet for every different unique individuals. You find your perfect diet by what makes you most comfortable, energized, and encouraged! Everyone (including those trying to lose weight) is supposed to eat when there bodies are telling them, if you deprive your body from its pleading, it causes stress which is not a good way to lose weight and can even cause weight gain if your diet is not sustainable. Im not saying to always eat junk food but its all about balance, eating happily, staying active, building muscle, drinking lots of water, and enjoying life to the fullest is the way to see results! Also many people buy SF things believing it is "healthier" but really SF brand foods do not help and are actually considered nore unhealthy than if you just chose cane sugar. All the caramel colors, sucrlose, xzylitol, aspartame, are actually quite bad for you. Again Im not saying having diet soda now in then is a crime to your body its just about balance. 😊

I want to make sure I said that right. Even though many people go below 1500 calories to lose weight, it’s not safe or sustainable or so I’ve learned throughout my health journal.

Morticia- so true!!

JustBananas/John: that is true too, sure the consistency is good but may not yield any kind of results. Which is why if Im in a relapse with my disorded eating, I tend to exercise less.

ZenusWarriorPrincess- a good reminder- it's easy to see a number on the scale and get depressed!! Can't let a number define our worth!!

outerlimit- lol yes, my dad is convinced that the American food system is holding hands with big pharma, the shittier the diet, the more unhealthy the people, the more then need meds.

Agnes Z- thank you very much for your input!! I really needed to read this today... I struggle with binge eating disorder, and sometime I go more then 6 hrs in between meals, especially when my boys are in school and my boyfriend is sleeping during the day.

I come up against 2 "most unpopular opinions." First when I am near a normal weight people say "Oh you don't need to watch what you eat or your weight." If I didn't watch it I would be hog-wild. Number 2: for me, I can't eat a little dessert or junk food and not have it trigger me. What others experience is different than me. But some other people don't understand that or want to accept it.

hunger does not mean one needs food. exercise is healthy, but exercise is not for weight loss. humans do not require 2000 calories. motivation is not required. ketosis is not real.

everybody wants a magic pill/diet/injection/workout/super food, but the truth is weight loss boils down to what we all know: calorie intake vs. energy expenditure. I love your take, Ellsy, too, and r63ssel - accurate knowledge,( like Mayo Clinics diet calculators for knowing how many calories you can eat to lose or maintain weight loss), are important.

I lost 200 lbs in 2019 at 41 by eating less carbs and walking 5 miles a day. I cut out carbonated drinks, red meat, bread, pasta, rice, and sugar. Everyone wanted to hear my great secret and it was that I ate lean protein, vegetables, and drank mostly water. My diet was boring and I walked 5 miles a day everyday even when pregnant with my twins. I've gained some back having 3 kids in the last 3 years, but this is what works for me so I'm going to do it again. I'm 45 with a 24 year old, 19 year old, 3 year old twins, and a 6 month old. I always gain a ton of weight during pregnancy even while keeping active. I've tried Weight watchers, low fat diets, high fat low carb, nutrisystem, and slim 4 life and this is what works for me.
