Darn! Thought I could avoid the Atkins flu, but started feeling yucky yesterday. Got a migraine today which luckily I have a script for. Also craving Caribs but doing well not cheating. Hope the side effects go.way soon. I am drinking water and chkn broth religiously and started magnesium, vitamin D, flaxseed oil and multivitamin supplements.

What is the Atkins flu?? I'm curious because I'm not on Atkins, but I'm on a high protein/low carb diet. Are you talking about ketosis? I'm curious now! Are you drinking low sodium broth? I make my own with chicken scraps and bone, but I have to add a little salt otherwise it tastes nasty. I wonder if you're getting a migraine from too much sodium...

No, the symptoms are due to body getting used to the low Carbs and being depleted of sodium and water. So you actually have to put more salt.and water into your body.

Uosunshine,
Wanted to comment that ketosis is the state you want to be in to lose weight. It can be a dangerous state to be in if you were starving yourself or had diabetes, but it can also be okay. I recommend reading the Atkins book or googling it to better understand it. To be "in Ketosis" can sound bad, but actually means you are in fat buring mode. I read this somewhere too. But if you are following a low-carb diet, you do need to replace your sodium and adding salt is not a bad thing.
