My new knee is working out pretty good so far. Two weeks so far.
Day 5 I was back on my cane after parking the ol man walker. Been doing the few exercises the hospital gave me. Pain in the quads has subsided. Calves and behind the knee are still tender as I try to restretch them. Otherwise mostly pain free.
Started physio and have more exercises. Internal swelling is still restricting some movements but I have noticed a bit more ability to bend my leg. Not far from being able to walk without the limp both assisted and unassisted. I did something today that most of us would think was nothing big. I went and walked through two supermarkets looking for something. I did this without needing a trolley to lean on or without feeling sore and tired in the legs. Still with cane, looking forward to when the physio says I prob don't need it. Benchmark for that is no limping. For anyone who was like me that wasn't ready and nervous about a major joint replacement. Go do it. I'm super pleased with how well my recovery is and a lot of movements are mainly pain free now

The whole motivation for my diet has happened.
I received a new knee today.
So far today has been good as I'm juiced up on pain killers. I have been warned by the surgeon that I prob won't like him as I start physio and the juicing I received will wear off. Apparently the next two weeks will be a rough ride.
On the good news, I am now able to straighten my leg for the first time in the last 4-5 yrs. Hoping by late Jan I'll be well on the way to walking pain/limp free and without using a walking stick 😁
Keep up your weight loss journeys folks. A tip for those people who might be struggling, fast for 16 hrs and only eat in an 8hr window. Research a recommended calorie intake for your age and gender and look up mindful eating to eat what is healthy and a treat so you aren't denying yourself enjoyment of eating. Denial helps to fall off the wagon

My goal for weight loss was to lose a suggested 10kg to please a surgeon to have a knee replacement.
For doing Keto, 600 cal per day plus intermittent fasting 16/8, I achieved my goal and more. The strict calories caused my kidney function to drop so I stopped the crazy low calories. it took me a few weeks to get onto eating more as I was not wanting to undo the kg loss I managed. A talk with a nutritionist helped and I was told to eat a little bit more.
Still doing my best to stay away from chocolate and other sweets. Still doing the intermittent fasting. At first my weight went up a few kgs but it settled back down to under and now just over the weight I stopped the crazy diet at.
The surgeon was impressed I lost so much. Was going to have to wait till Feb till op. I asked to be thought of if any cancels came up. Two days later I received a phone call and now booked for surg on Dec 7.
A bit nervous about getting the replacement done as I've had two reconstructions yrs back. Have got some major pain coming for the big picture gain.
I'm hoping in 3 to 6 months to be able to walk without pain, a limp and without the aid of a walking cane.
I'm hoping I still feel inspired to keep losing weight slowly. Best of luck with everyone's journey to their own personal goals.
Re.ember everyone, half a plate of veg, quarter of carb, yeah, spuds and the other quarter is protein. Advice that works from the nutritionist I talked with

I'm calling my diet done and successful. I've lost more weight than I first intended to set out for. As I initially found the weight was dropping fast I thought I could keep going for what would be a nice target of 100kg. I'll still hold hope for that. I was talking with my doc the other day about the diet and changes to my piano management. I requested a blood test for liver function. unbeknown to me, a kidney function was also included. I got a phone call from the doc and my kidney function isn't right. oddly from a conversation with my father, he did a high protein, low carb diet a while back and also got kidney function issues. Something I'll be taking from what I've learnt about all this calorie counting is a better understanding for it. whilst I'm going to give up counting and recording, I'm going to be more aware of foods that I used to abuse and to either avoid or show more respect for only having less to eat. Take care all with your diet journeys. while you are all on diets, check in with your doc to do blood counts to make sure your internals are also going the right direction as your kg's
