That looks so yummy. I love pasta and I’m not into that chewy whole wheat stuff so just avoiding it.

I love pasta too. It’s one of those things I want in cycles tho. Sometimes I want it daily and other times like now I’m good with every few days/weeks. I was eating canned soup but realized I could make my own with less sodium and more meat. This was a bit too much but it’s a training day so needed to add in some protein and carbs. Plus carbs sometimes help me sleep and I have a feeling it’s gonna be one of those nights! Passed out this afternoon and slept 3-4 hours. But I was woken up 6 times because the kids wanted to ask me something and didn’t want to bother hubby :/. Oh and another good thing about making your own soup is that you can add whatever veggies you want. You can add anything you need to balance out calories and macros :). That’s something I plan to work on in the future.

Lol Chris. I love shells and cheese too! Like home made mac better tho. This was healthy. I wanted to get some pasta in as well as some protein. Honestly the carrots were just because I wanted some color and I had them left over haha. You probably would’ve enjoyed the beef stew my family ate better. Carrots, peas, beef roast and corn. Flavoring was bouillon powder. High in sodium AND flavor ;). I plan to junk out some this weekend so keeping it a bit healthier for dinner. Lunch was a quesadilla from tropical smoothie cafe. Not bad it also or the healthiest. Relaxing a bit before I make a game plan for the next two weeks. Will have to be more strict I think to get in 120-130g protein and 250-300g of carbs. Oh and 54g fats or less. Will be interesting!

Lol. I’m not sure I could eat that much in one sitting. I do need to get some protein powder in though. A bit low for today. Well yesterday now I guess. But I may just double up tomorrow. I’m thinking of making a large shake and freezing it for a bit. Maybe make a short of milkshake out of it ;). Ice cream without dealing with lactose intolerance AND loaded with protein 🤩

Wow 800 is a lot! I generally don’t get that much at a sitting unless we eat out. I’m debating if protein shakes and powder are worth the cost. Meat is expensive though. I plan to make up a list of beef pork and chicken prices and compare gram to gram with the shakes. I think it’ll be fairly even. I get on hamburger kicks. 2 patties a day for lunch with A1 until I finally get tired of them. Usually 3-10 days :/. Those days I bet I was getting my protein in lol. Have 8 patties made up ready to eat next week :). Or maybe this weekend if I take over hubbys cooking days. Dang it. Now I want a burger and a shake. Will setting for a shake ;).

We butcher as well. Beef and pork. Our chickens are layers so not near as good as meaty birds so we don’t eat them often. We are out of most pork right now but have a whole freezer of beef and game meat(half and half). I don’t keep up with store prices. With 3 kids and one income I don’t feel like I can spend additional money on myself. I could spend it on another camp for the kids, new shoes or a Pizza lol. BUT I plan to get protein through powder OR meat so if it’s similar price then I don’t feel that the shakes would be an excess. Gotta save the hubby money where I can so he keeps me around 😁. My powder is $17 for 18 servings (30g Protein). 210 calories. Premise shakesnare 30g protein at about $2 each. Right now I’m having a couple of each per week. Hubby went through the stuff I didn’t like in just over a week! Seems he decided he would use it up fast and did triple servings lol.

Don’t try the new carb watch tortillas! 6g net carb because it’s loaded with fiber. Had two with fajitas and felt full to the point of sickness all last night and even this morning! And I LIKE being stuffed. Just not to the point of feeling ill. Next time I’ll stick to one! It’s going to be a great tool when I drop back to 1200 though! Same calories as a normal tortilla but I’ll be full quicker so will eat less.

and remember at the average of $1 a scoop to $1.30 a scoop, it is also replacing a snack food for you. If I remember correctly you are not using it just for the extra protein. I can't take the protein powder myself, but it can be a useful helpmate. Snacks can cost more than the burger or chicken. so it is doing double duty in your case.

Yes I use it for a snack when I can. I prefer to work it in at times when I’d normally grab junk. But a snickers is 68 cents at my Walmart so... cheaper than the shake haha. I find that it’s a decent dessert too. I’m fact it’s 4am and instead of grabbing junk I have a fiber one bar beside me so if I need it and I’m sipping a banana cream protein shake. My headache has eased up so when I’m done with it I’ll try again to sleep :). If I can’t sleep soon I know I’ll start snacking in earnest :/. Thankful it’s saturday so I can sleep in or take a nap later with my 4 year old :).

I hadn’t thought about yogurt. May have to try that some time. @tequila- eeewwww lol. I’m not that much of a drinker though. I would NOT try it with the few things I like to drink like twice a year ;). Cookies and cream tequila doesn’t sound good to me lol.

Lol. If I go out with hubby or friends I’m the DD. I drink 1-2 quickly then sober up over the next few hours. It hits me quick and goes away quick :/. I can down a beer on sleepless nights and half an hour later be sleeping like a baby. Haven’t tried the DD thing in years so my metabolism may be different now. My oncologist warned me that it may be different and I shouldn’t drink anyways. Drinking can mess with my antidepressant as well :/. But you may be on to something. A new line of protein beer and mixed drinks! Maybe you could make a business out of it ;).
