To be fair, I gotta challenge this a little. I can't imagine ANYONE getting fat on celery and lettuce. I don't think it's possible to over eat those things. :) If you ate from sun up to sun down, I don't think you could.

Oh, well it's not talking about sitting and eating one thing, it's just claiming calories, in excess are what make you gain fat. If you're at your limit, calories will make you gain no matter where it comes from and if you're not eating calories in excess, even the worst foods can't make you fat. That's what it's getting at.

But I agree, if all you ate were vegetables, it would be very difficult to eat in a surplus.

There was a guy that proved this theory, well he was the only one who participated (and I'm not recommending this!) but all he ate was junk food, but he ate it at a calorie deficit and still lost weight. Just proving cico matters. Good post!
