Workout sucked royally. Kid had archery and a parent meeting. Went to that and was able to head out after about 10 minutes. It started raining hard on the way to the gym. Finally get there and get in 20 minutes. Chatted up a trainer that I met this morning but see all the time there.

Fast forward to leaving and I barely make it back in time. Driving home it rained hard yet again. After driving sideways this way and that for half a mile I end up getting straightened out again.

Whew! That ditch was straight down about 3-4 ft on both sides!! That was about 3 miles from home. What would I have done if I hadn’t managed to control the skids and correct it? Called my in-laws of course and probably have gotten them stuck too. Did I mention hubby’s out of town? That was half an hour ago and I’m still shaking.

The best part is my teenager keeps on talking and asking questions as I’m sliding sideways. Going forward but pretty much perpendicular (is that the right word) to how I should’ve been going. ‘But mom, I stopped talking when I thought we might hit the ditch’ lol. After I asked her to be quiet. Kids 😝

Sounds like a scary drive! I don't like driving in the rain and avoid it whenever I can - something I can usually do since I don't have kids or anyone I have to drive anywhere. I'm glad you weren't hurt!

Thanks everyone! I’m very thankful I decided to workout for 20 minutes rather than do a full workout after the kiddos practice. Don’t think I’d have been able to make it home if I’d have waited. Yes it was scary, kids can be quite clueless and I too don’t drive unless necessary when it’s bad weather. Unfortunately it was necessary as we had a parent meeting too and she couldn’t practice without my signing a form. The rain started after we were in town so I had to drive home lol. If it had been muddy before we left I’d have stayed home and to heck with the meeting. She could’ve started a week late. 😉

What a scary drive! Water can come up so quickly when it rains hard. 💛💚💜

Yikes! You could probably have called the police or Triple-A or both to get you out of the ditch. Just saying. Glad you didn't have to figure that out!

I should mention that this was a dirt road. The water was making us soupy. I could’ve called the sheriff but i doubt they’d have come pulled me out. It would’ve taken a wench I’m sure. The people who own the land down the road decided to dig the ditch deeper to allow for their property to drain. I’m not kidding when I say a 3-4 ft straight drop off. 2-3’ wide. Basically the width of abackho bucket and two buckets deep.

Oh, Pepperjj, sounds like you might live just down the road from me. That sounds just like my road yesterday. I skidded round the corner at the mailbox. Stupid rain...stupid roads...stupid ditches. But, I had a slight advantage--no kids in the truck. Glad we are both safe.

Glad you were safe too! I’m in Oklahoma. Are you? If so we could be neighbors based on that road lol.
