We’ve gotten emails and a cap from our Ymca asking us to ‘Stay with us’. Seems people are stopping their memberships in droves. I can see both sides of it as our Y isn’t doing much with the money. They say they are feeding kids but only served 3000 small meals in a city of 60,000+ over all these weeks not including surrounding areas. They sent YouTube videos to seniors. They had child care for first responders. (They have a small nursery but the 6-11 yo space is a decent size.)Then they posted about all the things they are doing to the Y. Drained and cleaned the pool, painted (they just painted about a year ago) and ‘surprises’ we can see when we come back.

They are allowed to reopen on the 1st but are choosing to wait until the 4th. It’ll be by appointment only. I’m really curious as to how that will work. Will we still be able to take the kids? Can we send the little to the nursery or izone? How will they space out the weights? Right now you have to walk sideways to be able to get through the maze of things. We are still trying to decide whether or not to cancel. If we can’t take the kids it would be easier and cheaper to join the gym with massage chairs lol. But then the kids can’t play basketball this summer. But will they even allow them to?

The gym I joined a month before the "lockdown" closed down and suspended all the automatic membership fees until they can reopen. I seriously doubt I'll feel comfortable going anytime soon. I'm retired, and so is everyone else who was at the gym in the mornings when I'd go. I think the average age was about 75, mostly men. I turn 65 in June and just signed up for a Medicare supplement and they will pay for the membership. One good thing about getting older!
