and then I wake up in the middle of the night for a bit and just eat whatever sugary or salty thing is in reach because I'm hungry and tired.. sp stupid because when I'm up i can get around, take the dog for a walk or go for a longer walk. its just a matter of being exhausted most of the time. and my family think I am just lazy.. I don't want to waste my life like this.m

Hi Baby, I used to do the same thing. I’ve practically given up eating that kind of food apart from 1 or 2 days a week and in proportions too. Eating all that food burns the sugar first and makes you even more tired. It’s a Catch 22. Bloody hard to give up but look for something else like fruit with natural sugars and less C’s. Grapes/bananas yoghurts etc. Also, don’t gauge on it. Eat slowly and wait a bit. Then you’ll be full for longer. And, believe it or not, lots of water will make you feel fuller for longer. My stomach and appetite has shrunk already from doing this in 11 days! Imagine how that would work in a month! Best of luck! 💪😎👏

It might be useful to have an iron test too. Low iron can definitely contribute to lethargy!

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. Finally- it's funny you say that bcoz I've got an iron studies blood test tomorrow (among other things to check thyroid levels bcoz I had lumps and pain in my neck and doctors were like *shrug* and I finally got a competent doctor who determined that apparently my thyroid function seems to be cycling between over-active then under-active, and back again over and over again! Which might explain the neck lumps and pain!) I've also had anaemia on and off since I was 14yo (when I became a vegetarian) and I dont eat very balanced diet until making an earnest attempt now

Nick -yes it's all about distracting yourself until the cravings are gone and lots of water! At this point the habits and need for sugar/sodium is so ingrained that it's genuinely like an addiction. I am finding it harder to give up than I did cigarettes! (1.5 years ago).. boy I'm glad I gave up smoking before covid! How do you stop your mind being like 'yoghurt or fruit or whatever isn't good enough, 8 want ice creammmmmm.!!
