Day #34 of fasting. Finally dropped a half pound after being stuck on 213 for FOUR days! When you start exercising, does that make you retain fluids? That's the only thing that's been different is that I've been doing the Physical Therapy exercises twice a day - about 30 minutes of exercise in total. (Shows you how much I know about exercise, right?)

Things are going along very nicely. God has been so gracious to give me ZERO side-effects from the fasting (except the mild dehydration before I started drinking some salt water). I've actually been more productive while I've been fasting that I was before I started. I pray the motivation and energy will continue even after the fast is over.

It's taking more and more faith to believe that I will reach my goal, with the 4-day stall thrown into the works. I only have 22 days to lose 13.5 pounds. Seems impossible - and it IS in my own strength. The ONLY way I'll make the goal is if God makes it possible. I 100% believe that He CAN do it, but I'm having to constantly assure myself that He WILL do it for me.

It's hard to not beat myself up about those two months when I got discouraged and quit trying, putting me WAY behind in my weight loss effort! Or, I question myself, "what if I had just started the fast a week sooner?" But, here is where I am, and, as I learned in a Bible Study I'm doing this week with a friend, "God has resources and solutions outside our reality and beyond our concept of what is possible."

If I continue the fast another 6 days, I will have completed a 40-day fast - the same as Jesus, and Moses, and Elijah (though theirs were supernatural fasts, which also excluded water, which is not possible outside the full-blown miracle realm).

Ok, that's my musings for the day. Hope you all have a nice weekend! Thanks again for going on this Journey with me. I can feel y'all cheering me to the finish line!

Excellent work, Debbie! Exercise can absolutely cause water retention. Your whoosh is coming. Let's go! #inspiring

Stay in the game mentally. That is where I fail. I go off on a tangent reasoning why I can do what ever I want to. But then I loose sight of the goal. Keep faith.

Some people think diet drinks affect our brain, not only our gut. I don't understand the brain connection, but know they can kill half the friendly bacteria in our gut. I don't know how much that could be affecting one besides messing up their system and making them depressed. The Lord is surely helping you. I'm praying for you.

I hear ya. I wasted the entire month of May so now am stressing over the same six pounds I need to lose for the healthy wage challenge. My official weigh in window opens in two weeks and ends July 1. Nose to grindstone! 💪👍

Debbie, overworked tired and sore muscles are inflamed and you have really been pushing yourself. Those inflamed muscles will hold onto as much water as the can whether you take in salt or not. I agree with snowwhite100, our gut has brain cells too. can you take a probiotic capsule once a day for gut health while you are flushing everything ? Best Wishes...cheering for you!

Doing great, Debbie! Hang in there; exercise is only a positive for the body, and yes, water retention is normal -- it will flush out soon. I'm in the same position, as I just started doing Barre Method this week. Sore muscles every day, but the body needs it after a year of quarantine and minimal movement. Keep going, Girl!

Praise God for keeping you through this. Keep putting Him first in all things and He will care for you, let your relationship with Him be in front of your personal desire to lose weight (I’m preaching to the choir) and that’s when He shows up and helps us past the finish line. I want Him to be glorified in all that I do and not for me to vainglorious (cause I know I can). Keep on keeping on, your doing great! I’ll be praying for you. Please pray for me as well.
