Debbie Cousins's Journal, 30 Mar 22

Ended up getting in 3/4 of a mile of walking yesterday, even though my knees were the worst I can even remember. Nothing I took helped them any - Advil, Tizanidine, Aspirin EC325. I have a doctor appointment in two weeks, and I'm going to see if he can prescribe something for when they get really bad like that. Still hurting today, but nothing like last night.

Got in my 4 waters this morning and am working on my afternoon ones now. Pretty confident I'll get in 8 bottles.

Today, instead of walking 200 steps each half hour (1/10 mile) like I started out doing 2-1/2 weeks ago, now I am up to walking 1/4 of a mile each time I take a break after 30 minutes of doing stuff in my recliner. Had a bunch of errands to run this morning, so I got a later start on the walking, but I'm hopeful that I'll break my 2.1-mile record. Gonna give it a valiant effort!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments yesterday. I'm surprised I sprung back and got back on track so quickly after the bad start to the day. I still hate that I broke my perfect 4-1/2-month record of doing the jobs EVERY morning; but, what's done is done. The key is to not let skipping them become a habit - the extra money is a real blessing.

Counseling has been going well. Last week, we told our son that we were canceling Netflix effective 4/12 (end of billing period). Even though he and his family live in another house now, they were still able to use "our" Netflix account. We never used it, so it was the first thing the counselor suggested for setting boundaries with him. It went pretty well. The next one is going to be much harder, though! Next week, we have to tell him that we are canceling his phone service effective in mid-May. His wife has her own phone service, and he can get on her plan, OR he can do "Safelink" or "Assurion" which have free phone and internet services if you're on Medicaid and SNAP, which they are. It might not be as much internet usage as he's used to, but he rarely goes anywhere, and he is on wifi when he's at home. We REALLY are conflicted about adding this burden on him when they're already really struggling. But, we're paying all totaled almost $200 a month in HIS expenses, and it's weighing on us. He's 34.

OK, that's my life in a nutshell.

You gotta do what you gotta do, Have been supporting someone in my house for 11 years and going deeper in the hole to do it every year. No more free chicken. Someone else on planet Earth other than your son is going to have some planning/acting to do.
