"I get the same messages all day every day from patients and followers. Here are some of the most common ones I get. These are myths. 1. You absolutely do NOT have to go low carb to lose weight. I don’t care if you have insulin resistance or not. It doesn’t matter. It’s energy balance. If you find a way to eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight. 2. It was thought that protein is harmful for kidneys due to the way it is metabolized in the body. However with more data this has been questioned. I’m not one to recommend the 1 g of protein per pound of body weight. Unless you’re a professional bodybuilder trying to preserve every single gram of muscle you have while you lose fat. For those with much more fat to lose you can be lenient in this and go lower. However even modest protein intakes from 1.2 to 1.6 g of protein per kilogram are said to be harmful by some people on the Internet. There isn’t good data to say it is harmful to eat that amount. 3. Cardio is awesome. But you don’t HAVE to do it to lose fat. I still would do it for health purposes regardless. You also don’t have to do it fasted. Just do it when you can. 4. Saying you don’t want to lift weights because you don’t want to look like a pro bodybuilder is like saying you don’t want to drive because you don’t want to become a nascar driver. Lifting weights is amazing for health and your body. To get bulky you would need a diet that helps with that and a lot of lifting and time/effort to do it. 5. Losing weight and keeping it off requires much more than willpower. Addressing habits, environment, physiology, and much more is what it takes. What else would you add?" What's fasted cardio? You mean like going for a 5k without eating right beforehand? I've tried this once before (not intentionally) and ended up sputtering to a stop after 40 minutes. Now I always eat a banana 20 minutes before any workout.

Usually means upon rising but yes, no food before. I do pretty well fasted but food always helps. Caffeine helps.

for me it's gotta be low carb the minute I start reintroducing them I gain weight. all my yo yos are carb reintroduction and losing control of those carbs. if I stay away from them, I don't crave them, no loss of control. I've been doing BBBE and it's been very freeing for me 🙂
They may cause you to overeat, but they are not creating fat from thin air, they are just calories.

About The Start Here Guide. There's a lot of info and he makes it an easy read. Thanks Diablo. I do hope more people take a look. :-)

Doing cardio in a calorie deficit is a really terrible idea in fact. Way more muscle loss than there needs to be and that is NOT good for health and looks freaking terrible. Sometimes I see people complaining they've lost 40lbs but no one notices or they think they look more or less the same. And sometimes the sad thing is they don't look that different. It's almost always people who don't do resistance training.

For me it’s got to be a balance of good food. Meaning, no fast food, lots of fresh produce/fruit and less meat. Only very occasional high fat/high sugar products like cake/cookies/etc. The only change after the diet will be a gradual increase in calorie intake. Exercise- essential 😎🇨🇦☀️

Willpower is overrated

All of these are for sure myths! Funny, I just had a conversation about to much protein with my nutritionist. I was worried I was consuming to much. She set me straight and so I'll continue to eat my high protein so I can continue to build muscle. 💪💪

I have plenty of will power, I will eat that bag of chips, I will ignore the treadmill. It is my won’t power that is sadly lacking

Won't power. 😆 same! ❤️

I agree - on all 5 points of the myths as stated by the Dr. Everyone of them is a lie generated and promoted as truth - has those points become weight loss cultural myth - I do not know - and Yes DP - Won't power is the same or even a bit stronger than willpower. Most of us are highly dedicated to Not Ever Changing but we strongly admire those who do change! That is not a myth.

I could easily feed the nation of Italy with the weight of all the pasta that I have lifted in the last month - Be Proud.
