A great video on stimulus to fatigue ratio for muscle building. I recommend a watch but for those who just want to read, I screenshotted the takeaways from the video lol. I was typing them out but that was a chore.

All credit goes to the Renaissance Periodization youtube channel and Dr. Mike Israetel.

Very interesting!! I usually have a good connection with the muscle group I’m working and feel it with the exception of my lats. It took a while but I finally found a few exercises and modifications that I really feel (in my lats), trial and error! Good stuff though!

It's funny you mentioned that. I never have too many issues with feeling the lats, but today I tried what Israetel spoke about in another video, machine-assisted pull-ups, and damn, I felt a great burn doing those by going higher than you can go with normal pullups and holding the squeeze at the top.

This also shows how intense cardio is not the best option since its SFR would be terrible. Very high fatigue with almost zero stimuli for muscle growth. Especially when "cutting" as available energy is low.

Good stuff!

I have to ask. Jujimufu and his hardest leg day. Is that even possible for mere mortals?

YouTubers will do extremes for views, they sure aren't the efficient way to lift even if he is enhanced.

So the new car lifting thing? A stunt for views???? What? I thought it was a new trend.

Was just in a conversation with some people at the gym about weightlifting versus cardio. Very interesting stuff Diablo. Thanks for the info!!

I'll have to watch that, Kat.

I think this also illustrates why intense workouts with hardly any downtime are not optimal for muscle gain. Something like CrossFit. Longer rest periods have been shown to help with strength and muscle building. Shorter ones are better for endurance and heart health. A mix of both is probably best for overall health but one is definitely better if optimal muscle gains are a goal. But, like with any program, you have to want to do it and enjoy it to remain consistent, so choose your favorite.

Especially those useless pullups. Joint fatigue with terrible muscle stimulus lol

Wow, this is very informative. You should teach a class. This info can help people to understand the science behind exercise and how to create a exercise routine that is most beneficial for them and their lifestyle.
