Debbie Cousins's Journal, 23 Oct 22

This week turned out to be a high calorie week - average 1,650 calories a day. Of the 17 weeks I've been dieting, though, 7 of the weeks were higher calories than this one. Next week, I'm going to try to set a new record for lowest average daily calories. So far, my lowest was last week at 1,441. So, that's the number to beat.

The past three days, I have been eating more breakfast after having my toast - an egg with ham one day, sausage one day and bacon today. The good thing about doing that is it increases my Protein, which has always been low. The bad thing about it is that it adds 134-214 calories that have to be worked into the day. Going to try to forego that extra this week. Don't want adding that in to become a habit.

Today has been a drizzly day, just kind of misting, but it's dreary outside. Was thinking about taking my grandson to two trunk-or-treats this afternoon but (since I hadn't mentioned it to him yet), I opted out. Next weekend we'll be doing fun Halloween activities on Saturday and Sunday - the two biggest things we've done yet.

I'm not actually a fan of Halloween, but I AM a fan of spending time with my grandson. When my kids were young, we only allowed them to go to church-sponsored events - fall festivals, "tract-or-treat," dressing up like Bible characters or animals, etc. (My husband did an amazing costume for my son as a frilled lizard, lol!) My daughter sometimes gets mad at me because I'm so much more fun, understanding, lenient with my grandkids than I was with her. In a lot of ways, I feel like I've progressed. Now, I don't sweat the small stuff, and I try to let them just be kids.

OK, haven't done my "Through the Bible in a Year" reading yet today! I'm on the December 12th reading. When I finish, I'm going to try to fit in a "40 Days in the Gospels" reading before the end of the year.

Hope everyone finishes out this week strong. Best wishes and prayers for a great start to your new week tomorrow!

You're doing great! Does your daughter not know that grandparents are there to indulge their grandchildren?
