peeperjj's Journal, 22 Dec 18

Oh yeah baby! An extra pound off earlier than expected so more room to wiggle when I severely overeat 3 days this coming week lol. And then maybe two days next weekend IF the food turns out good (there it’s usually really dry because it’s leftover turkey that’s been cooked, frozen and thawed and usually reheated frozen then thawed and reheated again).

I have to say that I’m liking how my plans to overeat have worked so far this week. Couldn’t manage to do it AND lost some more weight haha. I know this isn’t normal and that it’ll come back I’m sure but it’s so nice to see and helps with motivation on meals/days that I eat lighter. Plus the 1234 is pretty cool to someone who likes numbers like me.

FS friends, as you read this, take a deep breath! Make a list and organize it based on priority. Separate things based on if they HAVE to get done or if you just really WANT them to get done. Have boxes or tubs ready. Anything that doesn’t get picked up or cleaned can go in those boxes and hidden in a spare room, closet or under the bed. 😉 Everything doesn’t have to be perfect. I read a quote on FB last night and it hit me hard. ‘There is 100% chance you won’t get it all done. There’s about a 98% chance they won’t notice. What they will notice is if you are going crazy.’ Don’t be like me and go crazy lol. This year I’ll strive to bust my ass and then be okay with things that don’t get done. With all the other stress in my life I plan to enjoy as much of this week as I can and to hell with those who want to add to the stress! Hubby is already making plans for if things go south. I’ll tweak those so that if we walk out maybe we won’t look like asses. They have a way of making it look like our fault and that we are just mean. Because ya know, they hide everything and we don’t want to drag others into it. This year I will memorize some comebacks that are respectful but let those around us know this isn’t just us being mean. Things like “Sorry but we need to go. We’ve discussed this and if you can’t respect our wishes/boundaries then it would be better if we head out and let everyone else enjoy their holiday”. Rather than the usual “just stop, we’ve been over this and you refuse to listen’. Just knowing I’ll be making them and memorizing them has my anxiety quite low. Oh I don’t think I’ve posted it but we’ve decided it might be better to go to the holidays with his side. If we don’t we still look bad, nobody will have a clue what’s going on still, the kids will miss seeing family they want to see and I don’t trust his family not to show up at our door and make a huge scene and telling everyone how horrible we are because they just want to love us and know their grandkids. These people aren’t around enough to know what his folks have been doing and saying to us and the kids. If I was mean I’d print it all the text messages and provide a set to each person in attendance who thinks it’s our fault of a blowup happens. But that’s not me. That’s me when pissed but I refuse to be that way over our Savior’s special day. Yet I also won’t let my kids be needled, put down or made to feel inferior.... or be taken off/cornered and quizzed once again. (They showed up against our wishes and tried to drag the middle kid off this time and the kids told em they’ve started asking my 4 yr old questions which is just wrong. They aren’t just harassing one kid now but all three. Mama bear has claws sharpened, out and ready but for a retreat rather than an attack back.)

So take a breath, relax and get down what you can. Everyone will understand that it’s not perfect. Perfection is boring anyway and fun memories are made from the imperfect 😉.

Lol yes they do! For thanksgiving they cook a big bird ahead of time then reheat for their lunch. Then they freeze it and reheat for when we come over. For Christmas they get a spiral ham and turkey and cook ahead for their Christmas lunch. Refreeze and reheat when we come over. We can tell how many times the turkey has been reheated because they eat a turkey leg each time. If both legs there it’s fresh, both gone then they’ve eaten on it twice. 🤷‍♀️ And they start with a 12-16# bird to begin with for 5 of them at the beginning and 15 people for the last one. My family cooks 1-2# per person and for my family of 5 I cook a 12# turkey with all the trimmings and usually a smaller ham too. His family is big on doing things ahead and easy. I’m big on making sure everyone is stuffed lol.
