Ugh 120 is here to stay I guess. I knew it would happen. It has to happen to gain muscle. Yet I felt so good being under 120. The only times I can remember being under 120 was when mom died in 2013 and I lost a ton of weight in those 3 months she was sick and the 2 months after. Yes I was eating but I was pacing a LOT. I was eating more ‘whole clean foods’. I think it was emotional stress. Anyway, other than that, the last time I was below 120 was when I got married or around then. I remember weighing at work and being 118 and again at 108... it went up and down a lot during the year and a half I met my husband and we married. Again, lots of stress from my family and then some from his. 110 at 16 and around 115 at graduation. I’d hoped to see both again when I meant to lose the weight. Guess I’ll settle for premarriage weight 😉😁.

I’ve been back at the gym a little over a month. In that time I’ve had a surplus of about 4200 kcal in 32 days for a 131 kcal daily surplus average. I’ve gained 2#. Actually 3 but my starting day was the only day at 117 so I believe dehydration/water was the cause and 118 to have been my true weight at the time since most days where 118 something. I gain more than expected when I have a surplus and I lose more than expected when I’m in a deficit. My body obviously doesn’t follow the 3500/# rule lol. Or something throws me off and I just can’t figure out what it is. Perhaps it’s the working out that makes me gain more than expected... as in water retention and when not working out I stay dehydrated no matter how much I drink. It’s all I can figure. 🤷‍♀️ The idea of gaining two soup cans worth of weight makes my skin crawl. Really doubt even half of that would be muscle. REALLY need to find a dexa scan close, maybe a dietician and someone who stands by my scale and tells me EXACTLY what is causing it to go up or down or stay the same. While we are at it I’ll ask to win a big lottery, a mansion, a full staff to cook and clean and a unicorn. Let’s throw in a Pegasus and some super hero powers too while I’m at it. And... a magical weight loss and perfect body for everyone I know in person and on here. If your gonna dream then dream big lol.

Ah... life. Happy Monday lovely FS people! Have a great day and someone please be at my house about 7:30 to help me up the stairs and give me a massage after my evening workout 🤪. I’m not sore, my hot flashes and headache are driving me nuts and I have a feeling I’m going to push myself a lot today. Will walk it out at the track and field day tomorrow so may as well!

I’m 120lb and I’m size 00...don’t blame the weight, blame the body composition

I was a 0 in like 8th grade at 100# lol. I’m a 2 now but my 1&3s I wore in high school won’t come over my upper thighs. Even if they did they wouldn’t go over my hips after three babies. They said my hips would go back but they didn’t lol. Hips used to be 28-32 I think (measured after my first kiddo and believe it was 32) and even if the tape measure cuts in all the way I won’t get below 36 I think. Body comp wise I don’t care about size. I just want the clothes I have to fit well which they do, to be able to help hubby more on the farm, keep up with my teenager (as in stomp her at a race or lifting occasionally since she lives rubbing it in that she stomps me lol) and well, be ripped lol. The last won’t happen so I’ll settle for shocking a relative or two. Enough that you can see a bit of definition when relaxed and a nice ‘pop’ when flexed. I so wanted to take a pic of the lady at the gym last week. She had the build I want! At least back, shoulders and arms. Couldn’t tell on the rest as she was sitting down and long pants. She probably thought I was checking her out/hitting on her lol.

In the past I would have rolled my eyes at this 'two soup can gain' issue of yours but now I know that if I had this focus I would never have regained the weight so many times. In the past I would always say 'I'm going to give myself a 5lb buffer' but that would go 10, 15, 80.... I admire your dedication.

I just lost 5 lbs of water weight in one day. 1. Might consider measuring yourself. It’s a bit more hassle than stepping on the scale but someone on here was talking about some amazing inches list while the scale stayed the same for two whole weeks. Wish I remembered who it was. 2. One of the fancy fat measuring scales?! Can tell you are stressed about this. If you actually add muscle you will eventually lose some more fat or go down a size or something. Maybe that’ll be your new 120.

Muscle and water is heavy. I agree with the suggestion of using other measurement tools while lifting. The scale is only one tool to measure progress. And while easier to use, it's not the end-all-be-all of our journeys. Don't fret. You're nailing this. :)

Thank you all! I too used to roll my eyes when someone said about gaining a pound or two. I just keep imagining me strapping those cans to myself (each about the size of a pound of meat) lol. If you think about smearing yourself in those soups then it isn’t so bad but yuck lol. Not really dedicated as I just know me. I’ll get off track and decide not to log for a week or two, then I’ll decide I could eat out more and it won’t hurt and before you know it my clothes won’t fit and I’ll have gained half of it back. I gained 10# in 7 months and that’s a lot for someone as short as I am. Thanks again! You ladies all inspire me too!

@tash, the scale is hubbys. He wanted to start training last summer and his measurements showed I was 35% and he was similar. He had way more fat than me and even now he measures himself at like 12-15% and the scale shows 40%. The scale is off as I’ve been measured by a trainer at 20% last fall. The scale now shows 31-32% and isn’t supposed to be off more than 3-5%. But I trust the trainer over a machine especially when all the formulas say I’m 15-25% depending on which one I use. I am obsessive. Not worried as in actual stress. I can obsess over this and it’s something I can change unlike politics, the bad stuff on the news, worrying about my kiddos etc. I am also a numbers person. I like seeing the changes in numbers. The scale is just easy lol. I’ve always felt my best right around 122 so I’d really like to keep it around there because I don’t know what my body comp was back then. That’s one reason I want a scan. I’ll be able to see actual true progress from a medical standpoint and a machine with more accuracy. So don’t mind me, I’m not truly worrying about this enough to stress me out :).
