Sometimes I wonder why I love sugar so much...I'm blaming my mother who (after my Dad died in 72) would take the 2 of us to DD and order a dozen boston creams then we would sit in the car and eat them...or Micky D's and eat 4 or 5 cheeseburgers and of course washed down with a shake. I was 12 and I didn't see anything wrong with eating this way because Mom ate it too. Mom's dead now after a heart attack, stroke complicated by diabetes! Now I know that was wrong, knew it in my 20's-early 50's. I've been very lucky so far as I don't take medications and I'm not diabetic, but if I don't start and continue to lose weight, who knows what can happen. giving up the sugar and starches is so hard for me, but I've been this road before and I refuse to give up...I DON'T END UP LIKE MY MOTHER!

Sugars and carbs help raise our serotonin levels (which helps us feel good, lol) You should google sugar and serotonin. Sugar gives you that quick rush, then you need to keep eating more in order to get it. Your putting emotions in to your food (going to DD with your mom) which we all do. But food is only fuel for the body. You might look up "Becks Diet Solution" on Amazon and look up the reviews. It isn't a diet, but helps with the emotional aspect of why we want to eat and how to change our behaviors. Good for you for knowing you need to change and taking the steps to get there.
