Debbie Cousins's Journal, 10 Aug 20

Had to set my alarm to wake up at 3am to take Shingles meds, and have to take it with food. That sucks. Only lost 1-1/2 pounds this week. Wish it had been more, but at least I wasn't GAINING, as I have been every week this year before these past two weeks.

This week's highlights: Every day I got in 8 cups of Water (64oz); got at least 20 grams of Fiber daily (avg. 24.8g); kept Net Carbs under 30g (avg. 27.45g); kept calories under 2,000 (avg. 1,634); kept Fats above 60%, all except one day (average 64.7%). I'm especially pleased with getting the Calories down to an average in the 1,600's. I'm going to try to be more aware of that during this week and see if I can get that number even lower while still keeping all the other numbers in tact.

Shingles is irritating - like always having something sticking in my side and itching. I HATE TO ITCH! Thankfully, it isn't unbearable, and I bought some Benedryl cream which I can use (until/unless the rash turns to blisters, which it hasn't yet).

Getting up at 3am is a pain. I'll have to work to plan in those extra 3am snacks and figure them into my calculations. I fully expect to go back to bed after writing this!

The worst thing about having Shingles, though is that I won't be able to see my grandkids this week (and maybe longer) to have them come over for their swim lessons. The little guy, 4-year-old Jack, is getting SO CLOSE to being able to actually swim without his floatie arms. The swim instructor goes back to college on the 21st, so there's only a couple weeks to get him over that last hurdle. I'm TRYING to talk my daughter into bringing the kids over for the 1-hour lesson this week, but so far, she's not buying it. If worst comes to worst, maybe my husband can go and get them and bring them for their lessons.

My resolve is strengthening. Making it through "getting sick" TWICE this week without "consoling" myself with bad foods was a real accomplishment. I've always been of the mentality that if you're sick, you get to eat whatever you want (probably dates back to getting to have ice cream when I got my tonsils out at age 5! 61 years of habits are hard to break!

Hope everyone had a great week last week, but even moreso that you are ready to embark upon an EXCELLENT week THIS week! C'mon team, we've got this!
