Trish, unless you’re a quadriplegic you can always do some form of exercise. I started by lifting two tins of lentils (400g each) a variety of movements, while in an armchair. Hold on to the back of a chair and do marching on the spot. Don’t overdo it, just do it regularly, build it up very gradually. If you have joint pain or injuries that prevent one thing, find something you CAN do! You just make the best possible from what you’ve got.

Oh, so sorry! Emphysema? I know what it feels like, I am also a lifelong chronic severe asthmatic with badly impacted lung function (another reason I don’t do cardio, I get too breathless). It’s crap when someone instructs me to ‘breathe normally’, I’ve never been able to breathe normally in my life.

Congrats on the loss Trish, keep at it and just do what you can. It is really tough to lose weight with just calorie control but that's what I've always done mainly because of my dislike of exercise! I'm sorry for your breathing issues. I took pregnisone too for a while in my hiatus (for severe arthritis), that was what hit me hard with weight gain! I blow up like a balloon, I think I gained 4kg in a week at one point.. so you are doing great if you are on those and losing 👏

Yes Trish I have been on lots of prednisone in my life, it’s where my weight problem started when I was only 15. I weighed 8.5 stone, went on prednisone and within 4-5 months I was over 12 stone. It probably saved my life, but at an enormous cost to general health. I’m no longer on it but I use 3 different inhalers every day to control the asthma, and I’m on antibiotics permanently due to lung damage.
