Debbie Cousins's Journal, 21 Jan 21

Managed to drink 17 8-oz bottles of water yesterday. Was a little discouraged this morning when the scale hadn't moved, after a full night of sleep with getting up 4 times to pee. BUT, after breakfast this morning, I had two really good bathroom visits which I'm sure would have made the scale go down if I had just had them BEFORE I weighed. Feeling more encouraged now, and staying the course today. Only drank about HALF as much Diet Coke as usual yesterday. Going to try to keep that down today, too, only drinking it with my actual three meals. Because of medications I take, I am thirsty ALL the time, so I will drink water at all of the in-between times. I know I am doing the right things to ensure that the scale WILL go down!

Doin good! May I ask, why so much water? May be why scale not moving?? 8-10 glasses water needed. But 17?? Probably holding some of that? Don’t know for sure but sounds like an awful lot. Good luck, you’ll figure it all out🍀

Some "authorities" say that you should drink half of your body weight in ounces each day to stay truly hydrated. Others say 64oz is the magic number. I've been doing the 64oz since the first of the year, and it didn't seem to make a difference, so thought I'd try the 128+. I weigh about 250, so 1/2 my body weight in ounces would be 125oz a day. Yes, it IS a lot of water, but when I wake up in the mornings, I don't notice the swelling in my fingers anymore and the first thing I think when I wake up in the morning is NOT, "Boy, my left knee hurts." Must be doing something for the inflammation. For now, anyway, I'm going to try to continue the 16 cups a day and see where it takes me. Thanks for everyone's comments, though! I really appreciate your thoughtfulness!
