Debbie Cousins's Journal, 24 Jan 21

Down a half pound this morning. 10.5 so far for the month of January (well, actually starting with a night time weight on 12/27). I'm on target for reaching my 60 pounds in 6 months goal. Made a sugar-free Chocolate Eclair cake day before yesterday. It is 265 calories a slice. (Did I already tell you this?) Yesterday, I skipped dinner so I could have TWO slices! It tastes like a Boston Cream Donut! It's not TRULY sugar-free because it has graham crackers in it, and I'm sure they have some sugar, but the puddings used are sugar-free.

Today, my husband wants to get BoJangles BBQ's for lunch. They are 460 calories, but I've planned ahead to still be able to fit it within my 1,600 calorie limit. (Most days this week, I have kept it at or below 1,500)

Yesterday, I twisted my ankle somehow. It was hurting really badly last night, and my husband had to give me a couple of his pain pills. Only hurting at about a 3 on the pain scale this morning, not having walked on it any yet today. But, I slept wrong on my right shoulder and that is hurting at about a 4. Going to take an Advil or Excedrin or something and see if I can go back to sleep for a couple more hours.

Congrats on your downward trend! Hard to believe January is almost gone. Sorry to hear about your ankle and shoulder, hopefully you managed to get back to sleep for a bit. My sleep is always a bit spotty as I don't have to get up by a certain time. I was having a GREAT sleep this morning. The dogs usually wake me around 3 to go out but not today! Grandson called at 6:30 and woke me up to tell me he was going to breakfast and would call me back afterwards! Uh...ok...🤣🤣🤣 Your cake sounds awesome. Have a great lunch with hubby!

I'm glad you are eating what you love and just fitting it in to your allotted calories so you are not feeling deprived. I firmly believe that is the way to go but everyone needs to do what they think is best.

Cooked carrots in my new Instant Pot today. They were much better than they usually are when I cook them in the microwave - none of them got shriveled up. Then, I tried something I've never tried before - cooking "real" (not instant) rice. I bought a bag of Jasmine Red & Wild Rice, and I cooked it in the Instant Pot. I don't know if it was SUPPOSED to turn out the way it did, but I LIKE it when you can measure out 1/2 cup of rice, and when you put it on your plate, it retains the shape of the measuring cup. Today is Sunday, and once again, I am allowing myself to go over on my alotted calories; but I am still keeping them below the 2,250 target I had the first week of this year (instead of $1,600, which is what I'm doing now). Debating whether I should "officially" lower that to 1,500 for the upcoming week, since I only lost 1-1/2 pounds (instead of the 2.4 that I NEED to lose each week). Maybe I'll let tomorrow's weigh-in help me decide. Even when it was 1,600, though, I kept it at or below 1,500 almost every day, so it wouldn't be that much change. Having a party for my grandson here tomorrow night. Ordering pizza for them, and my husband and I will go ahead and eat our OWN dinner before the party. Also having Ice Cream Cake, but we'll probably just have some of the Chocolate Eclair Cake. Glad we're not having things that would really be a temptation to me. The kids want Pepperoni Pizza and the adults want Ham & Pineapple - neither of which are our favorites (we like pork sausage with mushrooms & onions, and I like black olives on my half). Enjoying my day of indulgence today, so back on the straight and narrow tomorrow!

I wear hiking boots for a couple of days whenever I twist mine. Easy way to let it heal.
