My friend is a body builder, BMI says always OBESE, just a number !!

BMI is a screening tool only— crated to provide a ballpark figure. . Not meant to be used in some specific instances because IT WAS NOT CREATED TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT MUSCLE. I wish people would not be obsessed with this number. Several other things need to be considered as well. For instance ethnicity. BMI does not take that into account.

Like anything it a BMI is just a goal. A number. How you feel is what counts. I take no pleasure in how long I have quit smoking, for example, it is KNOWING that I am where I want to be and not going back! I could accept my weight now, happily, but it would still be healthier to lose a little more. I know I can, so why not? When is enough, enough for a body builder? The amount of weight lifted is just a number too! Goals are good, keeps us motivated.

Since he's asleep...I'll speak on his behalf...he's is well aware and was just being silly. 😉 But interesting for anyone to read who may not know. Thanks!

Obviously BMI is just a rough screening tool (but a pretty good one nonetheless) and will not be that useful when it comes to athletes with higher than average muscle mass or in populations where body fatness and visceral adiposity tend to be higher even at a normal BMI. Of course, just being Asian or Latino doesn't mean that you are automatically unhealthy at a higher-end normal BMI, it just means more people in this population will have a higher BF % despite technically not being overweight. But I think Diablo is well-versed in all this and was just joking about his "obese" BMI, lol.

I read a few articles on BMI - and it is a tool to use along with others. https://www.webmd.com/diet/features/bmi-drawbacks-and-other-measurements#1

Wow, I'm disqualified 4 times over then! ;) And yes, after 20 years of lifting I have long disregarded BMI, everyone.
