Debbie Cousins's Journal, 03 Feb 21

Sure enjoyed my chili yesterday, and the oatmeal with raisins & pecans, and the orange(s) (plural - I just happened to eat one right when I got it home from the store, so it was very COLD, and I really liked that, so I had another). Kept calories under 1,600 but no weight loss this morning. Will continue to try 1,600 for a couple days and if no loss, will go down to 1,400 again. I DO notice that I want more food when I'm not doing Keto. I guess it's because there are so many more things that I can enjoy and have them still stay within my self-imposed parameters. Grandkids coming today - both of them from 10-3, then I'll take my grandson home and let my grand daughter spend the night. Gotta make an effort to do some things where I can INTERACT with her. She has a tendency to want to spend the whole time online on her tablet - she's 10. Ok, have a good day, everyone!

I love Chili! It is a go to staple. Lately I make vegetarian chili and I love it. Have a great day with the grands!

yes, I've noticed too when I was yo-yoing in 2020. Carbs and sugars give me cravings, making me want to eat more (which I did).

I really like how you are trying things and then say This is not working (not in these word but..) I'll go back here. in other words knowing what work and doesn't do matter on our journey. Hang in there, I think you are doing a great job.

Don't forget, each gram of carbohydrates will bring with it 3-4 grams of water weight in the form of glycogen. 150 carbs over what you were eating last week on average will have you gain .8-1 pound of body weight. So you could be losing fat even if the scale doesn't show it.

Thanks, @Diablo360x! That is encouraging. The scale has been up since I went off keto and re-introduced carbs. I'll try to be patient and let my body adjust for another few days without fretting about it.

It's so good to see that orange bar; you're doing great! Enjoy your grandchildren and keep up the good work Debbie! 💛

It's the sugar in foods which causes insulin spikes. It's physiological. The brain chemicals respond to sugars which are more addictive than cocaine. Keto (limiting carbs reduces hunger.) Debbie, what was the reason you decided to stop Keto?. Yes, Moraleja, azucar-sugar is the cause.

Going frim under 40 carbs to over 100 carbs is a sure-fire way to gain weight. Our bodies respond to hormonal changes not just calories.

@ruthe1213, I don't ever plan to make Keto a "long-term" thing again, because it eliminates many foods which I think God made for us to be healthy eating. It also lends itself to me going "carb crazy" if I've been on it for a long time. My last "off the wagon" trip lasted over a year! Not going back there! It IS a great way to lose weight quickly, though, and I will continue to alternate between that and Low Calorie to be able to see the losses I need to make my goal of getting under 200 pounds by June 27th. I'm planning to be off it for a week and then re-evaluate. If I don't lose any weight in this week of Calorie Counting, it'll be back to Keto and I will probably stay on it longer than a week next time to capture a better loss (though I'm NOT complaining about losing 5 pounds in 7 days!)

Hmm, I can’t see your journal but would suggest having your oatmeal without the nuts and raisins. The simpler your foods, helps eliminate extra calories, carbs, whatever. Dried fruits are tough to control. Much better to have another orange and you probably wouldn’t want eat two. Everything you put in your mouth is a choice. Only you make the choices. 🤗❤️
