Debbie Cousins's Journal, 28 Feb 21

I'm in the same place that I was when the challenge week started on Monday. Disappointing. This morning, I feel like I'm retaining fluid. My knees are hurting and my fingers feel like little sausages. I drank my water yesterday, so not sure why the retention this morning. Hopefully, the fact that I'm the same weight this morning, WHILE retaining fluid, means that I've actually LOST a little which will show on tomorrow's weigh-in. Now 3.8 pounds BEHIND where I am supposed to be for reaching my goal. I'm finding it very hard to be patient for the weight loss. Constantly evaluating whether I need to be doing something differently.
109.8 kg Lost so far: 7.7 kg.    Still to go: 41.7 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

It's so hard to be patient when you're doing everything right and seeing no results, but it will happen Debbie, just keep doing what you know works for you! 💛

It is so annoying and frustrating when it feels like nothing is working the way it should, but, you know it WILL work and it's just a matter of sticking with what works for you body...just keep looking forward...and it'll happen when :)

May not be down, but it's not up (yay).

You know this as much as I do, but sometimes it helps to hear an external voice - changing diets abruptly (eg from or to a keto diet, or from or to a low carb diet, or from or to a balanced diet, etc) often messes with fluid retention and gas build up as our microbiome adjusts. It takes about 4-5 days for them to get settled on the new diet, so it takes about that long before the scale fluctuations even out and drop back down to where they should be. Be patient through these fluctuations. =) Changing again only disrupts them once more, and it's another 4-5 days of settling out for them. (eg, I abruptly went all-vegan at the beginning of the month and went from lean meats and eggs as my protein source to lentils and legumes - I gained 5 lbs overnight, and it took a week to drop down to what was actually a pound loss for that week!)

She_loves, I think the magic number is twelve weeks for some reason, you can probably tell us why. Recall reading or seeing that somewhere. Debbie, you lost weight this summer when you were moving around with your grandkids in the pool and yard. I feel like you're focusing solely on your food. Live a little, dance around, you'll feel better.

If you know your calories are on point I'd give it another week and see where you're at. One thing I hear a lot about is stress. People are always saying quit stressing because of the cortisol and all that. Of course, after I hear that I stress more about stressing...It's quite the vicious cycle. Hang in there!

Unfortunately to keep it off patience is necessary but hard!🍀

calories in, calories out. simple.

I totally agree with what she_loves said. As much as we think we can make our weight loss follow our schedule, it will follow its own. We can only do our best and wait it out.

Did you go back on the Keto? Hang in there. You can do this.

Hormones are a thing. You may find that as you track over multiple months you find a longer pattern in things. Monthly or semi-monthly fluctuations may happen. Stick to your plan, when when it's frustrating.

Katsolo - I hadn't heard that magic number before, but I am keen to dig around and find out why. ;)
