Debbie Cousins's Journal, 05 Mar 21

Dontcha just hate people who always have something to complain about? Well, I seem to have become that person. Going to try to exercise a great deal of self-control in only reporting on the POSITIVE things that are happening in my life.

I prepared my waters last night (fill eight 8-oz bottles from a gallon, to save on plastic disposal), so I can get off to a good start this morning.

Planning something VERY unusual for myself today - my best friend in CA and I (in VA) talk every Friday on the phone for about an hour. We've decided that today, while we're talking, we will be WALKING. It will be the first time this year that I've actually purposefully walked (when it didn't involve grocery shopping).

I'm thankful that the weather has been sunny for the past 3-4 days, and that there is NO RAIN in the forecast for at least the next ten days. I do much better when the weather is welcoming. It will be 45 for my walk today, which is perfect for me, since I overheat easily.

I'm thankful that I don't USUALLY have daily pain to have to contend with. A lot of people DO, and I'm glad that this neck pain (that I've had for four days now) is an anomaly and not the NORM for me. Also thankful that my knees have been much better this year than they were last year, and that I am better able to walk up and down stairs this year than I was last year.

I'm thankful that we get to have filet Mignon (from BJ's) tonight for dinner. I just prepared them for marinating, and they seem like they will be very tender cuts. I'm looking forward to enjoying a 6-oz steak with half of a baked potato topped with cheddar cheese and some homemade ranch dressing. It's quite a lot of calories, but I know that in advance, and have all day to plan for the success of staying within my calorie range.

Ok, that's about all the thankfulness, joy and light I can muster for the time being. Hopefully, I can get back into the HABIT of gratefulness again, and become the positive person that I have every reason to be!

It’s so easy to get bogged down in today’s annoyance(s) or what’s “not working” or not the way we want it to be. Thanks for this very positive message today. I’m going for a walk too this afternoon, long overdue and sorely needed. Hope you have a great day!

That's a great way to get your walking in! Before you know it the hour of walking is going to be over.

I've been trying to do the same, especially after seeing what others have to contend with in their lives. Store here is having a big sale right now and I just bought some filet mignons to grill in the next few days, sounded good to me also! I've also been exercising but what I've found even more helpful (for feeling good, not so much noticeable for a loss) is stretching. I'm pretty inflexible but just a couple of weeks of easy stretching has made a huge difference.

Thanks for that. I think we can really encourage each other to progress if we keep it positive. I also understand that we all have difficult days. Balance things towards the positive and it can bless and encourage all of us.

Don't know if I ever cooked filet minon. I buy a thick bacon wrapped steak that's realky tasty.

You are sounding better. So glad for your positive attitude. Getting out in nature is so good for us. I did that yesterday too. We get SBO's: Soil Born Organisms. Funny that they even sell them in a bottle.

Have you been to see a Dr. for the neck pain? Sorry I'm new. I also have times when I get really bad neck pain. It often starts at the area just below my skull. It stays there and feels horrid then to make it worse it creeps up the back of my head to give me the worse head ache. I did physical therapy years ago and that finally did help. So I was getting massages at least monthly. The COVID interrupted that because as much as I love my massages it is awfully close quarters and the person spends a lot of time right by my head because my neck requires it. The COVID has brought back not only my neck pain but also the TMJ pain that started with my neck pain. I have been trying to work through it all. I put heat patches, ice packs and those neck and shoulder bean bags heating pads on. I usually end up also doing nite time pain killer to help me sleep. The thing that also helped was when I started listening to a CD for TMJ pain. It helps relax my face, neck shoulder and helps me fall asleep. Hope this information helps if it isn't something you have tried. To me neck pain is the worst because I always get the super bad head ache and TMJ pain too. Good Luck.

when I worked, every morning I would pass the cutest little church. As I rode by ( please don't judge me), I would thank God for all of my Blessings. It was a 5 minute ride to work, but every morning I would start out with this or if someone needed prayer, that would be my quiet time to do so. Hopefully today brings sunshine for all of us. Great post.

Positivity IS the best policy. I have always tried to stay in a positive mood no matter what!!! And, I can get pretty-moody. I tend to bring myself out of my own depressions by thinking of positive things, praying, meditating, going for walks, watching comedy or just listening to it on the radio, listening to music I love, window shopping, saving money for things/goals I want, exercising, and just all ways seeing the best side of everything no matter how bad things get/are. The sun is good for pain. Walking on sunny/warm days, not HOT, will do wonders for any pains you may have. Also, I have some relaxing/healing/stress reducing epsom salts that Dr. Teal has out, besides body wash, and I just take a 15 minute hot soak in the tub and Voila....I'm a new person. Try it, you'll like it. :)

Love love love this post, Debbie❣️ I was thinking about that this morning and realized it was a game changer when I drop energy vampires and surrounded myself with positive people. Positivity is sooo contagious❣️I don’t think people can be deliriously happy all the time, but when we focus in on light 💡 sources we find the dark times so much more bearable. 💞💞💞
