Debbie Cousins's Journal, 10 May 21

Good morning FS family, and welcome to Day #8 of my fast. Things are going along nicely. God has given me the power to resist overdoing it with the Diet Coke, and I've been able to keep it at JUST a 12-oz can each day. I tend to be colder when I am fasting, so I've been drinking 3-4 cups of hot tea a day (with Truvia and heavy whipping cream). Still drinking LOTS of water (16 cups yesterday). With putting the salt in the bottom inch of my water bottle, it makes me very thirsty - but it has warded off the dizziness and dehydration I experienced in my last fast.

Got a lot of strenuous exercise in with vacuuming and brushing (think of forcefully mopping motion) the pool yesterday. It was 72 degrees out, and won't be that high again until Friday, so I wanted to get in and do those things, even though the water temperature was only 69. For those who don't know, water temperature is not at all like air temperature. 69 degree weather is very comfortable. 69 degree water is very COLD. It took a couple minutes for me to ease myself into it, but once I was in, it didn't bother me until a strong wind came up and made the top of my body even colder.

Ooops. Gotta get outside to unplug the pool, because rain is 80% chance in the next hour. Looks like we'll only have it for about four hours, and then I can get that pump running again.

Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day yesterday. I got a nice card from my mother-in-law, my daughter texted me at 6:30 am to give me Mother's Day wishes, and my son came up a couple hours after that to say HMD. My husband welcomed all the mothers who were in church yesterday morning, and I guess I was included in that. We don't celebrate things like that between ourselves - no gifts, cards, candy, flowers, etc. Sometimes, I will order myself or him something we need from Amazon and say it is for whatever occasion

Coming up on the timeframe of the fast that got discouraging for me when I fasted in March. That time, about this time, my weight loss slowed from 1 pound a day to 1/2 pound for two days, and then a day where I didn't lose anything. I pray that if I encounter a temporary stall this time God will help me to persevere through it. I'm still totally relying on Him to keep me on this fast, as I am unable to do it in my own strength.

Thank you, Lord, You are helping Debbie stick with this fast. We all, as a group, praise you for Your faithfulness. Debbie, you are doing a lot of work there on that pool. It sure is tough getting into cold water. You are one tough lady. I admire you. Stick with it sweetie, we are all behind you, rooting for you.

Thanks, @Snowwhite100. Your prayers are much appreciated! As to the pool, yes it is cold, but thankfully (for now) I have a very generous layer of fat to insulate me against the cold - otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do it. Night time temps are supposed to continue in the 40's until Friday, when they will start being in the 50's. Next Tuesday, it is supposed to be 79 in the daytime, so I'm hoping I will be able to let the grands go in that day.
