Debbie Cousins's Journal, 16 May 21

Day 14 - two days longer than I was able to go in March, and down 38.5 pounds for the year (so far)! Like I've said, God has made this incredibly easy for me, and I can't take the credit for being "disciplined" or "determined." It is only by His grace that I am able to even have STARTED fasting, much less gone 14 days. I'm very thankful and humbled that God cares about me and intervenes in my little life, out of all the needs in the universe. Praise God!

The pool is coming along nicely. Vacuumed it again yesterday - still having stuff settle on the bottom, but it is MUCH less, and my makeshift vacuum bag is picking up much more. I'm going to vacuum it again if needed after church this morning, and then it will be ready for next week's opening. Going to have the grandkids over on Wednesday (84 degrees) and Friday (91).

Yesterday, I measured for six of the bricks needed to fill in around the pool, but my husband's allergies were acting up, so he couldn't go outside to cut them. Hopefully we can get that done on Monday or Tuesday so it will look nice for when our friends come over a week from Friday.

My green beans are really taking off. I have several runners now. Also, the little sticky traps I made to put in the pots are collecting a LOT of flies and other flying/crawling things. Will have to make them again soon.

Haven't decides what eating plan I will follow when I break the fast. Need to start praying for guidance in that area. I'm fairly sure that it won't be Keto, because I want to enjoy God's bounty of in-season fruits this summer. I love making a big fruit bowl with watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, red and green grapes, fresh pineapple and cherries. Usually, I make a fruit dip to go with it (just prepared vanilla pudding with a tub of Cool Whip mixed in), but I may not do that this time around.

I'm very excited about the Great Wolf Lodge trip planned for mid-July! I'm praying that my community pool friend will be able to join us there (33 year old widow and her two children, 7 and 9). They're right around the ages of my two grandkids (5 and 10), and they all had a great time together two years ago when the community pool was open.

That's my life right now. Thanks for letting me share it with you.

Congratulations. Way to go! Thanks for the info on your other grandson. I'm rooting for you. Fruit has so much sugar it doesn't need pudding or anything else to go on it. That is either just more sugar or if sugar-free it is terrible for you. I just saw a report of the five foods that contribute to Alzheimers and sugar-free sweeteners were 2 of them.

Debbie, I squeeze fresh lime juice over my fruit salad and stir in a couple of packets of sweetener to offset the sour of the lime. I've never had any left over yet.

Hi Debbie, care to share how you make your sticky traps? I have bugs everywhere in my garden and looking for a better way of pest control.

I bought these little white stake signs like you would write the name of what you're growing and some sheets of yellow double-sided sticky paper (pests are attracted to the color yellow. I cut the yellow sheets to fit on the top of the white stakes, on both sides, peel, and put them in the pots where the leaves won't accidentally touch them. I have 14 green pole bean plants, and yesterday, when I changed the signs, some of them had about 100 (maybe more) tiny flying things on them. Supposed to attract aphids, too, but I don't know what they really look like, but my leaves aren't getting eaten by "something" as a few were last year. Here is the link for the stick paper on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I9KUKLQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And, here is the one for the little stakes: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JTSK47S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
