Debbie Cousins's Journal, 02 Jun 21

Day #31 of fasting. Still 14 pounds left to go. I think my weight loss the past couple of days HAS been caused by getting the salt out of my system by not adding it to my water. While playing with my grandson yesterday, I got pretty weak and dizzy several times. Thought it might be dehydration (even though I'd had 10 cups of water so far), so I drank two cups of salt water, and then was feeling fine. Guess I'll go back to adding that in. At least I know that, if I need a boost in the last couple of days, I can drop a pound or two by just eliminating the salt.

I'm disappointed with my pole beans this year. They're still not as lush and full as the ones I grew two years ago. But, they have plenty of blooms on them, which will turn into delicious green beans. I think I should have dumped all the soil and put new soil in all the pots, instead of just adding a couple of inches of fresh soil to the top of the pots. Ya live and learn.

The pool continues to be a pain to keep sparkling, but the grandkids enjoy it, and they love having it here to come to twice a week (it will be more once school lets out in a couple of weeks).

PT yesterday was pretty strenuous. Today, my back is sore right between my shoulder blades. Leaving out the one new exercise we did yesterday, which may have been the culprit.

My honor to Debbie: Yesterday I promised to tell you about a little trick I played on Debbie, but it didn't start out having anything to do with her. She asked me for a picture of myself, but her request just happened to come at a time when I had prepared 2 cartoon-like pictures to send to someone else. It was a dumb thing to do, but I had made a connection with another gal on FS that was highly educated, highly accomplished, with great writing ability and a sharp wit. We were private messaging and even chatted on the phone. When this other gal asked for a picture of me, I thought I might not be acceptable to her. She was a confident, practical, humorous intellectual that wore no makeup and I was an insecure, vain little frou-frou knocking myself out trying to be acceptable to the world. I had fun looking on the internet to find generic homely pictures and came up with a picture of a 100-year-old woman with no teeth, in her messy apartment with a highball in one hand and a cigarette in the other. My second picture was a much younger unfortunate gal, so didn't think anyone would believe the pictures of a 40-year-old and a 100-year-old. When Debbie asked for a picture, my warped sense of humor thought of those 2 funny ones, and Debbie is so good-natured, I sent her those joke pictures. It was a disaster with the other gal when I sent her the real picture of me. I had offended her, and she said I didn't trust her. It turned out the exact opposite of my fun time, and for this other gal, I ruined the relationship. She never private messaged me again, even though I apologized profusely. Now you can guess what Debbie's reaction was. She took it all in her own good stride, and cheerfully wrote to me. She had called me a fireball earlier, and now good-naturedly called me a little sneak. Debbie is such a wonderful person. She totally accepted me. Of course, I apologized to her too, but I never saw any negative repercussions. She has been so very supportive of me, actually more than anyone else on FS. Debbie is one of my favorite people.

I haven’t been here in around 2 years and have regained my weight, so reading what you wrote about Debbie has brought me back to join her challenges, again as she was always so accepting and so helpful. Your situation reminded me of her kindness, acceptance and helpfulness. Thank you! ( p.s. We moved 3 times to deal with my husband’s surprise diagnosis of leukemia and between the near total isolation of Covid, I ate for comfort. He is in remission, we are now permanent Florida residents and able to start living a bit again. )So, I am happy to back with Debbie and u, too.

213!! Wow, Debbie! Just a suggestion because I'm a senior citizen, out in the garden in hot weather, I make my own electrolites by adding a Tbsp of lemon juice and a pinch of Himalaya Pink salt to my bottle of water. (Just a pinch, not a lot). Good Going !!!
