Debbie Cousins's Journal, 23 Jun 21

That was what I weighed when I woke up this morning (after doing half of the colon cleanse prep last night for colonoscopy) - 200.4. Only 1.4 pounds left to lose! Oh, this is Day #53 of my fast (had to look). I probably won't see the full effect of all this gunk getting flushed out of me until tomorrow morning, after I have had a full night of sleep tonight. Nothing to drink from now until after my 9:30am procedure. Even though I just drank three pounds of water in the last 3 hours, I'm still thirsty!

Just completed the second half of the cleanse and things things are starting to clear up. Amazing how much stuff I was carrying around in my intestines - about 2.8 pounds of it, from between yesterday morning and this morning. Still might go some more, but I think it's about over. The last time I said that to someone, though, I had a major blow-out. The you-know-what really hit the fan, and the wall, floor, rug, outside of toilet, and all over me, down to my ankles! Which reminds me - I need to go and put the rug and my pajama bottoms on to wash a second time to get the stains out of them.

TMI?

I'm cautiously optimistic about reaching my goal again! I have four days to lose 1.4 pounds, which seems very doable, but I don't want to get over-confident. I know that it is only by God's grace and empowerment that I have made it this far, and I plan to trust Him all the way to the finish line. And, next time, I'm not going to goof off for two months and then have to take drastic measures for the last eight weeks! Lesson learned!

I'll keep you posted on how the colonoscopy goes. Last time I had some internal and external hemorrhoids (which were asymptomatic). I only get checked because my sister had colon cancer; which, thankfully, she fully recovered from without having to have any radiation or chemo. (It was a synovial sarcoma on the lung that killed her.)

I REEEEEEEALLY want some Diet Coke right now!

Most of what is in your colon (and in fact, a considerable percentage of fecal matter =)) is sloughed intestinal epithelial cells and dead bacteria. Your gut lining and bacteria are constantly refreshing themselves, which is why there's always something in there to lose. =) A lot of people think it's sludge that they've been carrying around for a while, but that's not true - it's refreshed daily!

Debbie now is a good time to ditch the diet coke. We love you and want your best, and it is so detrimental to your gut and therefore your brain, digestion, and all-over health. We do not want you to have the depression that it causes or other bad things eventually. We are rooting for you and I'm praying not only for your success in the challenge but even more for your very best: body, soul, and spirit.

Thank you for the prayers @debratrachta anderson! I am really feeling them being answered! @she_loves, thank you for the great information! @Anna Bear54 and @Snowwhite100, I know, I know, the Diet Coke has got to go. Let me get over this fasting period first, and then I'll try to cut down. On the bright side, I AM consistently drinking 10-12 cups of water a day. I get some credit for that, right?
