Debbie Cousins's Journal, 30 Jun 21

Well, thar she blows! Up almost 5 pounds this morning (from 198.4 to 203.0). Glycogen has arrived! Water is being stored. Intestines are being filled with food (with no movement as of yet). If I didn't already know this would happen, I would be pretty upset about it.

Pix are yesterday afternoon's 1/3 baked potato with bacon, olives and ranch. This morning, I woke up at 2am with an itching ankle. Used Benedryl spray and took two Benedryl pills, and I was still going crazy. So I got up, and WAITED to have "breakfast" until 4am. Because I was feeling bloated, I really felt like I wanted some vegetables - thus, the Glory Collard Greens and Glory Southern Green Beans (with potatoes - which I just separated into their own little pile).

The Italian Restaurant dinner last night was a buffet-style meal. There was a very small salad with Italian dressing, which I ate half of. And my buffet choices were cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, Chicken Fettuccini, Baked Ziti and Chicken Parmesan. I was able to cut a piece off the Parm Chicken and ate one spoon of it (about 2"x3") - and that was all I ate. I passed on the cake (which my husband said was very good)! OH, when I got home, for "dessert," I had 15 cherries.

I feel pretty good about yesterday's food choices and portion sizes. I had a plan for what I was going to eat, and I stuck with the plan. I didn't let my new WOE keep me from going to a social event, and I "fit in" by eating a small amount of what was available. I only got in about 6 cups of water yesterday, though. Gotta work on that today!

Kids will be here ALL day today - I leave to pick them up at 6:40am and they will be here until 3 or 4pm. Somehow, I'll need to occupy them inside so I can go into the pool and clean it before they come in to play. (Have to do it when the water is still so I can see the bottom to vacuum it.)

Plans for food for the rest of the day food-wise will include an Atkins Farmhouse Scramble around 6am. At 10, I will have a serving of the 7-Layer Salad, and at noon I will have one Tyson's Southern Style Chicken Tenderloin (they're pretty big). Dinner will be another plate of vegetables (collards & green beans), and the rest of the baked potato (which WOULD have been 2/3 of it, but there were a couple big bad places that I had to cut out, so it will be a little less than HALF of the potato). Dessert will be a banana cut up with 10 cherries. Goal is no additional snacking between my mini-meals, which will be challenging, because when the kids are here it makes me a little nervous, which makes me want to eat constantly. Also makes me want to drink a lot of Diet Coke. Going to try to replace a good deal of that with water.

I’ve been following you fascinating journey. What an accomplishment to win such a prize with HW! I’ve also read through your journal and I know your goal is to end yo-yo dieting. Please don’t think I’m criticizing, but I see little to no protein in any of your meals. If you want to stop fluctuating, well balanced is the key. Your muscles need protein and a lot of your metabolism is based on how much muscle you have. I really want to see you succeed. You obviously have determination and perseverance. A little tweaking will go a long way.

I love your plan of attack, have a great day!

@Shake Those Pounds, those first two days, I was only eating the things that were recommended for breaking an extended fast. The first thing I had was flounder, the 2nd was avocado and the third was eggs. I thought all of those had protein (well, not sure about the avocado, but I know it has a lot of fiber). I also thought cheese was protein. Guess I need to read up again! I agree that I need to have protein at every meal, and I will be striving to do that, even though I'll be eating such small portions. Thanks for the reminder! @ridemariel and @cmj29, thanks for supporting me!

Sounds like you’ve done great research. You are for sure more of an expert on fasting than I am and it sounds like you have a great plan. I just get so sad when people do things they can’t be consistent with, but it doesn’t sound like that will be the case with you. I wish you much continued success!

My doctor put me on Ensure because my protein levels in my blood tests are always abysmal. If left alone I would rather eat fruit, yoghurt, oatmeal, split pea soup. Meat? Not so much. Cottage cheese? Yes please! But I am not a big meat eater. If this is the step you need to end yoyo dieting, I am all for it. I am rooting for you!!👏👏👍🎉

Well executed plan!! Keep using small plates and snapping pictures of your food before you eat (even if you don't post). Both of these can help to lose weight! Red dishes are supposed to help also, they signal the brain to Stop eating! Have a Fabulous Day🌞🌺🌴😎!!!

Great planning Debbie, you've got this! 💜

I was intrigued by the red plate info, @catwmncat! I've actually got several colors of small plates, which I should start using for some variety in my photos. Have to check out Amazon for a red salad plate!

You are doing great, better than I am. I need to get back on the straight and narrow, for my brain's sake if nothing else. My addictions have been triggered, but I am still intermittent fasting. Yes, my neighbor sent in my license for me yesterday. I'll be in trouble if I have to weigh again. I was only at 113.4 when I weighed in so there is no wiggle room for me to ever join again.

Yeah, you have to have at least 10% of your weight to lose. We don't want you to COMPLETELY blow away, @Snowwhite100.
