Debbie Cousins's Journal, 26 Jan 22

Had a nice lunch with friends at Longhorn Steakhouse today (their Christmas gift to us). Enjoyed a side salad, loaded baked potato and a 9-oz Filet Mignon (of which I have about 3-oz remaining for tonight - or tomorrow with eggs).

The three widows to whom I had given Franklin Nut Cake on Sunday all brought their containers back today and said they think it is the best one I have made so far. My mother-in-law said she thinks I have nailed it (it's HER recipe, and I've been trying for a month to get it right - this was my 4th try). My husband said that his aunt got the recipe from an old Southern Living magazine and that it was reported to be Benjamin Franklin's recipe. (I don't know if that means HE created the recipe, or that it was just his favorite.)

Dental cleaning tomorrow - and I'm going to have them look at a very loose tooth I have. There is no tooth beside it (had to have it pulled a couple years ago because it broke and I couldn't afford a crown) and they said six months ago that it was starting to get loose and would continue to do so until it falls out. Now that we have dental insurance, maybe there's something I can get done about it before I lose it. The missing one is far enough back in my mouth that it doesn't show when I smile, but this one might.

Going to BJ's tomorrow, and I hope they have my Dave's Killer Good Seed Bread - the grocery store has been out of it for about four days, and I'm down to only about 6 slices remaining.

Nothing happening "diet-wise." Weight is continuing to slowly creep up. Usually, I have a point at which I get fed up with myself and if I reach that point, I will become motivated to DO something about it. I thought 250 would be that point this time, but now I'm thinking it might be 258 (that's what I was before I lost the 60 pounds last year). God, I need help!

Dear Lord, please help Debbie. You know what she needs and You love her so, more than all the rest of us put together. Heal her: body, soul, and spirit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
