Our attempt to flush the radiator ourselves was a bust - watched the videos about how to do it, but just couldn't get loose the things we needed to. Had car towed back to the shop again. When it broke down the other day, it blew a gasket ($350), but thankfully, it didn't warp the head (whatever that means). They're also going to flush the radiator several times. Car problems suck.

Making Chicken 'N Dumplins today for my son's 34th birthday tomorrow (they're better the day after you make them). First attempt at cooking the chicken in the InstantPot. Didn't want to dirty up the crock pot and wait for 8-12 hours on low for the chicken to be (fall apart) tender. Twelve minutes in the IP should do it. I make my dumplins by hand from scratch, roll them flat and cut them into strips. My Granny taught my Mom, and my Mom taught me. I should have my son come up when I go to make the dumplins so he can learn how to do it - so the recipe won't die with me.

My husband's grandmother "Nanny Woods" used to make the BEST yeast rolls from scratch! We had them for every holiday. Unfortunately, none of us ever took the time to have her show us how to make them. I don't know that I could have caught on anyway, because she didn't measure anything. People say I'm a good cook, but really I'm just good at following good recipes.

Entenmann's donuts have been BOGO, sigh. I've got two boxes on the counter and another one in the freezer (just finished up a box yesterday).

I'm still not dieting or following a healthy WOE. Basically, I eat one meal a day, snack on donuts a couple of times (maybe 3) and eat several slices (4-6!) of Dave's Killer Good Seed Bread, toasted, with lots of butter (literally a stick a day!) I don't eat them all at once - spaced out throughout the day (like every 2-3 hours), and one slice when I wake up in the middle of the night. I wonder how many slices I would have to forego to maintain my current weight, instead of gaining every week?

let me know how the IP chicken worked out for you! I've had better luck cooking for 20 to 25 with natural release to really get the fall apart chicken I'd get in the crockpot. I hope the car issue works itself out somehow 😬

Love my Instant Pot for all kinds of things. Hope your car finally gets fixed.

@Asarver, the chicken turned out great. I cooked it on High for 12 minutes and then let it Natural Release for 45 minutes. Then, there was still a little steam in it, so I Quick Released. One thing I did differently was to put the chicken into my metal mesh steaming basket, and I used a couple cartons of Chicken Broth in it, because I wanted a lot of broth for making the Chicken 'N Dumplins. The mesh basket kept any gristle or bones from falling into the broth (we usually use boneless skinless chicken, but there wasn't any that day). The C&D turned out GREAT! I actually made FOUR recipes of the dumplins, I had so much broth (about 12 quarts of liquid - I cooked the dumplins in my 24-quart stock pot). Made plenty to give my son 2/3 of the IP full, keep a large bowl for ourselves, and to send a quart to my mother-in-law and to a newly widowed lady in our church!
