Debbie Cousins's Journal, 28 May 22

Forgot to report this morning about yesterday. Nothing significant happened. I'll give today-s report now because I'm awake. Got in a little bit more exercise than "usual" because I went to the grocery store to do a couple of jobs, and I went to BJ's and had to lift two 35-lb cases of water into the cart, then out of the cart into the truck. Yes, I said "truck," car is STILL in the shop (today is day #18!)

I got a really nice seedless watermelon at Food Lion for $2.49!!! I ate a LOT of it yesterday. It's very low calories and one of the things they suggest you have the day before donating plasma, because of the water content. I only cut up half of it, but my husband finished that up last night. I'll cut the other half before I go back to bed, and I'm going to try to go back to the store before church in the morning and get another one! (It might be just part of their 4-day weekend sale) They were kind of on the small side, so maybe I'll get TWO!

Most of my day yesterday was spent on bruise care. Once during the day I strapped on three warm chamomile tea bags for an hour. Another time, I strapped on cut-open leaves from my aloe plant for an hour. All of the rest of the day, I put the heating pad on for 20 minutes at a time, all day long. I'm pleased to report that the top half of the bruise has faded considerably. I'm hopeful that with continuing my routine, I will have it down to within the 2" bruise limit and be able to donate on Wednesday (MAYBE Tuesday!)

I actually found one article that said you should eat filet Mignon before giving plasma because it is high protein but low fat and salt. I'm all about filet Mignon, so I splurged! $42 for three small filets, but I'll be able to have it the day before donating and with eggs on the morning of donation. I know it's been at least six months since we've had it, and it MAY have been a whole year, so we'll really enjoy this!

Hope everyone wakes up to a beautiful Lord's Day and that you have, or can find, a good Bible-believing church to attend. If you're ever in Richmond, VA, you're welcome to attend our small church. Our numbers are few, but we're probably the warmest (friendly) church in town, and our members are powerful in prayer.

May God bless your day!

You got a great deal on the watermelon. Here in Iowa, Hy-Vee had them on sale for $3.99 and they weren't that big either.
