Debbie Cousins's Journal, 11 Aug 22

Yesterday, my ELEVEN-year-old grand daughter tried to run away from home! My daughter was able to stop her (for now), but things are still really in crisis. On the glimmer of brightness side, my daughter isn't as depressed for the time being. All this with my grand daughter has come on within the past month or so. Before that, she begged every week to not have to go to her dad's house "because he's mean," (translated, he doesn't let her get away with everything). She said she hated him, every week, and wanted her mother to get full custody of her. NOW, she hates her mother, and wants to go live with her father. She is being VERY rebellious, manipulative, disrespectful, and irrational. How they deal with things right now will set the course for all of her teenage years.

No weight loss this morning (because no bowel movement yesterday). Missed my Fiber goal yesterday because I didn't have my butter beans. Every day since Sunday, I've managed to REDUCE my caloric intake by a little each day - all in the 1,400's. I've got my Food Diary filled in through this coming Sunday.

My husband has been wanting pizza, so we will have that on Saturday, and I'm going to allow myself to have more calories on that day. I had one high day, still under RDI, last week and it worked out fine. Might continue to make that a weekly thing. Controlled indulgence. Instead of getting pan pizza, we're going to get Thin N Crispy crust. We have earned free breadsticks, and I'm not going to have any of those. That's the plan.

How the Lord has kept me from going food-crazy or Diet Coke-crazy these past couple of weeks is beyond me. "Normally," all this crisis in the family would throw me completely off the rails. It's not that I have been exercising "will power." God has made it relatively "easy" for me to stay on track. Yesterday, my ELEVEN-year-old grand daughter tried to run away from home! I don't understand His ways - how a lot of the time things are SO hard, and other times they are not. But, I praise Him for the present victories!
