Debbie Cousins's Journal, 12 Aug 22

Weight down from 246 to 245.6 this morning (almost half a pound). Thank you, Lord! Had a bit of a slip yesterday - when I got up in the middle of the night to have my slice of Dave's Killer Bread toasted with butter, I REALLY wanted TWO slices, so I ate them. Calories still within my 2,000 RDI at 1,740, but they have been around 1,450 all week and they'll be up again tomorrow with planned pizza (two slices of Thin N Crispy pork sausage and red onion from Pizza Hut). Today, I'm only going to have 1,377 calories, by having only ONE ham biscuit for lunch instead of two, so that will help to stabilize my weekly average. I REALLY wanted it to be in the 1,400's, but it might be in the very low 1,500's.

My daughter had to have her 7-year-old white German Shepherd euthanized yesterday because it had cancer in its spine and had been suffering for about a month. Of course, they were all very sad. This is the first time my 6-year-old grandson has had to deal with death.

Pool day today, just with my grandson because my granddaughter doesn't want to go. I've decided that I'm not going to push the issue with her for these last two weeks of their summer before school starts. It is disappointing, though, because the pool membership is $500 a year.

We're trying now to get our pool stabilized. After sitting dormant with a cracked hose with no pump running for a couple of months, it was so green that you couldn't even see the bottom. Green algae. We shocked it twice yesterday. It will probably take a week or more to get all the chemicals stabilized and all the algae killed. Then, I have to CLEAN the bottom and brush the sides. It will be very hard to get INTO the pool because I have to climb a ladder basically straight up in the air, which will wreak havoc with my knees. Oh well, ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. Thankfully, I haven't even had to apply the Diclofenac cream to my knee this whole six weeks that I've been dieting.

Before pool time, I'm taking my grandson to get school shoes and a backpack, and then I'll have EVERYTHING he needs to start the school year, hooray!

Praying for all my FS friends that you will have a good day and have the motivation and determination to end the day feeling like it was a success.

Sorry about all this with your granddaughter. We love our kids, grandkids, and our husbands so much, that it is gut-wrenching when things go astray. We see how they are going to hurt their lives. Thank you so much for your prayers and please thank the church for me. Things are better today. My journal is very long but please read it, and maybe you can even share the "Praise" with them that their prayers made a big difference in our lives. I remember before (was it last year) that I was at my wit's end and was getting so depressed. They prayed and I got better. I need to stay very very close to the Lord for this journey I am headed for and I'm insecure about my ability to do that. He is carrying me right now, I am peaceful tonight. Adult Protective Services was out today and we (my husband and I) are moving into a new phase. It's only if I can stay very close to the Lord that I will be able to handle it. It sounds like the walk you are in with your daughter and granddaughter. It's so wonderful that the Lord promises to work everything for our good (even the bad things) if we love him.
