Debbie Cousins's Journal, 28 Sep 22

Kept my knee elevated almost all day yesterday, and it is some better today. Still hurts, but I'm not limping, PTL. Weight down 6/10 of a pound this morning from 235.6 to 235.0. Very pleased with my weight loss of late! Praying it continues to go down steadily.

With this knee problem, I haven't been very productive at all lately. I didn't even do the dishes yesterday, because I was trying to stand as little as possible. Tomorrow will be a heavy cooking day (standing), so I am going to try to not overdo it today, even though I have a little more motivation than I have had.

Weather here in central Virginia has cooled down some. Nighttime lows are in the 50's and highs are going to be in the low 70's and mid 60's this week. Leaves are still falling, but I've only seen ONE tree that had beautiful red leaves on it, so far. When I first moved to Virginia (over 40 years ago), I was awed by the beautiful reds, yellows and oranges of fall (having come from California where everything is green all year - the trees that did lose their leaves would just turn brown and then drop them). I miss the vibrant colors. Hopefully, many of the trees will still change.

Two sinks of dishes are awaiting my attention. I'll do a few more productive things from my recliner and then get to those.

Praying everyone is having an exeptionally good week!

Except for your knee you are having an exceptional week in terms of weight loss. Wishes you continued success and a whole lot of less pain. Enjoy rest of the week.

Hello Debbie :) So sorry you have such knee pain. Have you heard of Arnicare? It's for muscle pain/stiffness, swelling from injuries, bruising. It works naturally with your body. It's a gel and you can buy it from Walmart. Works great! Keep praying :) God will help you!

I sure am going to buy some of that Arnicare cream for my back. I looked it up online to make sure it didn't have Menthol in it because I can't handle that. It sure looks like it would be worth a try. It doesn't have to take the pain away 100% to still be worth using. What I use at night when I go to bed if I'm really hurting costs $90.00 a jar, so you can see why I don't use much of it. I see on the Arnicare website it comes in Cream, Gel, Ointment, and Bruise. I had never heard of it before. I've had this painful sciatica in my hip and leg for over 2 months now and it hurts a lot to walk. In fact, Sunday my leg gave out on me coming down the stairs and if I hadn't been holding on tightly I'd have taken a flying leap or tumble to the bottom. Sometimes I come down sideways and hold on with both hands. It just doesn't want to hold me.

Thanks, @jsjamie. I just ordered some of the Arnica gel for my knee. It was less than $8 on Amazon for the small size (1.5oz). I pay $9 for the generic Diclofenac cream, and it only helps a little. Sorry your sciatica is still acting up, @Snowwhite100. Thank God you didn't fall down the stairs when it gave out on Sunday!

Thank you, @meonadiet! The Lord has been blessing. I'm still learning, "In whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." Losing or gaining, I want to give glory to God.

Debbie, I can't stand for very long, so I use a tall stool in the kitchen. It takes some getting used to, but it's a tremendous help for me. The one I use is very lightweight, so it's easy for me to move it, and it folds flat, so it's out of the way when I'm not using it.
